GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT📢📢

Temi is a host, curator, and the founder of Blacklisted Book Club, a community championing Black and African fiction through author events and live conversations.

She also hosts Annotated, a weekly live show where a book becomes the starting point for deeper conversation about culture, identity, and the stories that shape us — built on the belief that Black and African stories should live outside the margins, figuratively and quite literally.

Her work brings African writing to UK readers and builds community around it on this side of the world. A natural interviewer with a facilitator’s instinct for a room, she makes spaces that are warm, sharp, and genuinely participatory.

Temi joins Aké Festival 2026 as a Travel Ambassador.

Last night I attended the BFI London film festival Premier of @babasegiswivesthemovie.

i’m super proud of how this excellent story has been adapted for stage and now to the big screen. It has already won awards at the Toronto film festival and truly deserves to win many more.

The production and performances are spectacular, and I am just so proud to be a Nigerian watching Nigerians bossing it in front of the camera as well as behind the camera too.

I found myself getting emotional towards the end of the film, not just because of the drama of it all but to look around and see how celebrated we are culturally and creatively.

So, I recommend that come 11 December you all go out and support this film. Take your mothers, your aunties, your siblings and your friends. Aunty @moabudu has produced the film and built the place where we can always find ourselves represented, all you have to do is show up.

PS some of these pictures I took, maybe I should add photography to my many skills 😏👌🏾

“If you’re not obsessed with what you’re trying to achieve, then you haven’t started.”

I haven’t stopped thinking about this since I heard it💭

In the third and final part of #TemTalksWith @moabudu, we talk about her determination. Once she has an idea, she does not stop until the vision becomes reality.

And honestly? It made me ask myself: am I even serious if I’m not obsessed with what I want to achieve?

That’s my takeaway. Aunty Mo leads by example and has created a blueprint for the rest of us to follow. It’s not easy, but when you put in the work, you begin to see results. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

What are you obsessed with building right now? Tell me below 👇🏾

Part 2 was of my conversation with @moabudu is all about The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives 🎬

Aunty Mo takes us through how she acquired the rights to aunty Lola Shoneyin’s novel, and the story of the four wives at the heart of it.

The film is in cinemas this December, and @ebonylifeplacelondon will be one of the first cinemas in the UK to show it. You’re bound to feel welcomed 👌🏾🫶🏾👏🏾

Who’s going to watch and have you read the book? Tell me below 👇🏾

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of attending the press pre-launch of @ebonylifeplacelondon. 🎬

#TemTalksWith @moabudu, who shared so many gems 💎 I left feeling so full.

Aunty Mo has built the UK’s first dedicated Black cinema, which includes:

🎞️ The Amani auditorium

🍽️ The Afrobeat restaurant

🛋️ Fehinti Lounge

🍸 Maji bar

🛍️ Zuri retail

Speaking with Aunty Mo, it was clear she has created a space for the community to feel seen and heard, as well as for collaboration and partnership.

This is the first of its kind, but by no means the last. Aunty Mo wants others to pick up the mantle and create similar spaces.

Kola Bodunde is one to watch 👀

He’s new to the big screen, and his excitement was contagious. He told me being in a room full of legends is something he’ll cherish forever, and it’s made him want to keep telling stories that inspire our people.

His biggest lesson from set? Don’t be fearful, because overcoming your fears is how you get better.

And blood or bone? His character picks bone. Every time.

Remember the name. @kolabodunde

“I felt magic.”

I asked Zackary Momoh what it was like being part of Children of Blood and Bone, and this is what he had to say.

He spoke about how rare it is to see Black stories told on this scale, where we get to be the heroes and the villains.

He said the film is huge, but it still takes time over the smaller moments too, like grief, and like feeling you’re not enough when your people need you to be strong.

Then I asked him the big one: Blood or Bone?

He said you need both.

And I hear it!

A wholesome chat with the woman tasked with bringing Orïsha to the screen.

Gina Prince-Bythewood on protecting the book, on Tomi Adeyemi, and on handling a cast that big — which she says wasn’t hard, because they had either worked together before or had wanted to work together for a while.

Then I made her choose: blood or bone. Soft approach, or ready to fight. She says she carries both.

And I believe her!

First and foremost my deepest condolences to the Arday and Wilson-Kotey family for this unimaginable loss. Jason was a son, brother, cousin, father, friend. His talents and resilience earned him a spot in the highest of academia in a land and institution set up to destroy him.

@temtalks and I spoke about the witch hunt two weeks ago without the slightest idea that this will lead to his untimely death.

The British media and the racist journalist/academics who stopped at nothing to tear him down have serious questions to answer for their disproportional agenda.

For now we mourn the loss of a brilliant mind who fought for the black British dream — just to be.

Rest in eternal peace, Jason. 🕊️
