Efficient Space invites Osaka master selector Eiji Taniguchi for a midweek deep listening séance at Tender on Wednesday 4 November.

Owner of our most prized record store, Revelation Time, Eiji has long been an oracle-level knowledge source for DJs of all persuasions, from IDM to breakbeat, streetsoul, lovers rock, dub, J-pop, new wave + every micro-genre in between. Beyond the counter, his vital curatorial work for Music From Memory has ushered obscured Japanese music into wider circulation, including the CD-era leftfield pop compilation Heisei No Oto, ambient techno survey Virtual Dreams II + Dream Dolphin’s Gaia anthology.

Perpetually one step ahead of the curve, the four-time Noise In My Head contributor will beam us collectively into the unknown. Strictly limited to 70 tickets.

IKSRE | Highlights

Pheobe’s album launch and the opener, My Lovely Haunting, came together at @tender____________ , with Raconteur Melbourne delivering the full production:

Lighting: Thoughtfully designed lighting that gave the stage depth and atmosphere, creating a striking silhouetted look that was dramatic and cinematic.

Audio: We worked with Tender’s in-house PA, a beautifully built system by Pitt & Giblin that was an absolute pleasure to mix on.

Recording: Professional video capture to preserve the day in cinematic detail.

Music: Gentle Rain by @iksre

Thank you Pheobe for having us be part of the event!

Curly Wurly Playtime was born from the desire to have a good dance, without the late night. It’s a chance to move and feel, without the structure of a class.
@evajudell and @ceremonycollaborative will be your hosts, weaving a dynamic musical journey - sexy to silly, soulful, percussive, deep and downtempo.
This Sunday 25th October is our second instalment, at @tender____________ .
One hour of dance expression, guided only by the music and the impulse of your body.

A dream 💭 I cannot get over @gracierf ‼️ Thank you for your magic Grace. Thank you @tender____________ for allowing us to get so very tender. Beyond grateful for everyone who came to Unstruck. What spaces we cultivated together! Forever humbled and cracked wide open by witnessing the unfurling, rewriting and realisations that happen here. No fixing or force. Just safety, support and space to let whatever is alive be held and move. Such an honour to hold so many new people and, as always, my darling regs! Not sure what’s coming next but that was so freaking awesome there will be something very 🔜 no doubt… but for now, revelling and in awe 🌬️🎐🕯️🌸

If your Melbourne social life has become dinner, drinks, repeat, save these two.

XFLOS in Collingwood is a florist and creative space that regularly turns into something else entirely: workshops, events, community nights, even a dance floor.

We held our last ELEVATE event there, and it’s a good example of something research shows: doing something alongside other people can change how the experience feels. Shared moments can feel stronger, more memorable and more connecting than doing the same thing alone.

Then there’s Tender Place in Brunswick. Shoes off. No drinks. Around half the people who come, come on their own. They encourage parallel play: doing your own thing, side by side with other people.

Two very different places, both built around the same idea: give people something to do together that isn’t dinner and drinks.

Take the friend who’d say yes on a Tuesday night.

Saturday, November 7 · 1–4:30pm · Tender, Brunswick

Huru Healing Salon No. 3 invites you once again to slow down, connect, and explore the art of Thai massage—no experience needed. Come with someone or come alone; we will help you pair up.

Curated by @mothafunk. Hosted at @tender_place Brunswick.

For this addition, we’ll spend more time learning Traditional Thai massage techniques, preceded by a sequence to warm up and align the body. Utilising both movement and touch to release tension.

After the massage & movement portion of the afternoon, we will welcome harpist @babyfrdmfly to soundtrack Yoga Nidra before concluding with a delicious vegan meal catered by @thatplaceonvictoriast 😋

Come release, unwind, and soak up the many benefits of touch—a space to foster connection both with others and yourself.

IKSRE presents “in all her forms (sound meditations vol. 2)” VIC/NSW (NEW!) TOUR DATES 💧*new Naarm/Melb date*

I am thrilled to be taking my show on the road over the next month, with a handful of regional VIC dates and a show in Eora/Sydney; finishing with a new date at Naarm/Melb’s home of ambient, @signals_ambient on 25 November.

Some of the shows will be an extended, live looped ambient electronica set, spanning my entire back catalogue. Other shows (indicated as “sound baths”) will be something different - a performance of my new album, in full, as a 75min, acoustic sound bath. Whereas the other shows will be more akin to a traditional gig, these will be more of a formal meditation practice; lying down, eyes closed. 🫠

“in all her forms (sound meditations vol. 2)” is a one hour, seamless sound bath album with electronic elements, and a common thread of field recordings of water in some form - from rain to the ocean, snow to underwater, and back again - it represents the cyclical nature of water and its ability to shift from state to state while retaining its essence of H20. The album is out now on @ctatspurr digitally and on cassette and CD. Vinyl presales available through my Bandcamp.

For the Red Hill show, I will be joined by the brilliant @mylovelyhaunting on support duties, and the show will be enhanced with immersive lighting and staging from @raconteur.mel ✨
