It’s what’s on the inside.

My journals are my safe landing for my wild and free.

I also love to support my friends. While some things are gifted on here, I bought these journals myself, and I don’t ask for the friend’s discount. I’m a single mom, sole provider, and I juggle endless projects to make it all work. These women and makers are running their own making it work too. Support your people.

Make time for that which makes your heart feel alive.

I needed this reminder today. Sometimes it’s easy for me to forget to tend to my heart when good and exciting things are afoot all around me. I effortlessly get caught in the momentum of everything. I love being the hype girl for my people. I love the whirlwind of ideas and big visions. Yet I’ve come to realize that my fullness and best are only sustained when I intentionally make room for my heart to breathe, to rest, and to play just for the sake of it, just for me. It’s all part of my creative process and work. Everything is intertwined and I never really stop. I don’t know how to compartmentalize any of it, but I’ve learned that I need to make room to fill myself with whatever makes my heart feel alive in order to fuel everything else.

Lately this looks like picking up colourful autumn leaves when we walk Yonsei (our sweetie Jindo rescue pup). Or exploring a charming neighborhood with really old trees lining the streets. Sometimes it’s just the pink glow in the sky before dusk. Or having a moment where I can look at my son outside of being his mom and just being completely wowed that he is this incredible, unique, and brilliant soul. Today it was catching up in my Hobonichi pages with ephemera, stamps, leaves, and stickers. I’ll never be too old for stickers.

I need more of this in the weekend ahead. I want to make a mess in my journals. And watch a comfort movie. Maybe find a new enchanting street to stroll along. Or look for more leaves strewn across the sidewalks.

What is something you do just for you? What makes your heart feel alive?

Introducing a new desk for the creative studio. It arrived in two boxes, and each box weighed about 100 lbs., I spent nearly 8-9 hours assembling it together, and the hutch nearly took me out. 😅

I’m still faffing and fluffing, but here it is! I love the wider desktop and all the shelving space. I filled it with all my favorite and special relics that bring my heart joy. I like that I can rearrange and organize my tools and treasures here easily too.

What do you think?

Flashback to when I made...

This Thistle Magick book, hardbound leather case binding.

One of the highlights of my life was visiting a historic little town in Portugal called Evora, and continuing my mums legacy and bookbinding tuition with our bookbinding hero,@teo.studio

I am now back in my own bookbinding studio, communing with mum in the best way I know how; creativity and books.

The second book with @teo.studio was as much fun . The fine binding book , achieving the perfect mushroom on the spine , smoothing out the sides to be able to tool and paint on them ,creating a symmetric pattern on the cover , blank and foil tooling , the head bands , every intricate detail was a joy to create 😃thank you @teo.studio for everything 🤗

Do the thing! EXPERIENCE small businesses, invest in creativity. Art is rebellion, and I couldn’t be happier to invest my time and money in my friend @teo.studio ‘s work. When you buy a book, book a tattoo, get that cute nail art or create new things with your own hands, you become a little more human, and when humans get together to create rather than destroy, magic happens.
I do believe in magic, it’s not in horoscopes or hexes. It is hidden in the little things that are created with love.
Thanks to my friend Teo for one of the most beautiful weeks of my life! ✨

Late night journal with me?

The super moon inspired me tonight. For a moment I felt transported somewhere otherworldly and gazed at an ageless childlike gift of wonder with warmth and mischief and reverence.

We were not made for machines and we were not made to be machines.

Draw and journal with me?

Many of my ideas spring to life when I’m making a mess with ink. They usually have nothing to do with ink or journaling, but somewhere in the landscape of pages, my heart feels free to stretch out and play. I love it here in the quiet.

Can any of you relate?

I’m back to sketching old buildings again. They are a forever muse.

The quiet ones have loud pages.

Some late night journaling thoughts…

Autonomy is sacred. It’s okay to take your time. I often need quiet away from all else to connect with my heart and to sift through my thoughts with clarity.

It’s okay to change your mind too. We are constantly learning and growing.

We have an overload of information constantly coming at us. From media outlets, individual posts, everything in a phone and outside of it too. Where is the time to process it? Some of it is purposed to uplift and help, some of it is meant to manipulate and mold. Both can be in the name of something important, though one inspires clarity and growth, and the other is a covert prod. May the latter stay so far away from me.

Journaling is a safe place for me to get the loud out and move into the needed quiet. My pages have a wide range.

What about you? Can you relate?
