Hispanic Heritage Month takes over the Ranstead bar. 🍸

We’re thrilled to welcome Amy’s Pastelillos to the Bridges to Our Roots table, Fishtown’s beloved Puerto Rican kitchen, led by Amaryllis “Amy” Rivera-Nassar. Amy’s just been named a 2026-2027 Enrich Partner of the 76ers Enrich Program presented by Bank of America, and she was featured in Esquire’s Best Restaurants in America.

Her pastelillos, flaky, fried, and filled with everything from guava barbecue pork to shredded chicken, are a love letter to Puerto Rico, built one recipe at a time from memory and nostalgia.

Amy joins Casa México/South Philly Barbacoa, El Chingón, Tequilas, El Merkury, Café Tinto, and Mucho Perú for a night celebrating seven cultures, seven stories, and seven incredible dishes.

40 Years of @tequilasphilly: Past, Present, Future 🇲🇽

When @davidsurop opened Tequilas in September 1986, his mission was to bring a fuller expression of Mexican food and culture to Philadelphia. But this clip is just one small part of the Suro family story…

40 years later, Tequilas’ influence has grown far beyond its Locust Street home and remains part of the evolving story of Mexican food in Philly—thanks to longtime staff and David’s three children @dan_suro @_elisa_suro_ @dave_suro_jr who all have carved their own paths back to the family business and are now helping shape what comes next…most recently with the debut of @lajefaphilly.

An updated norma for Mezcal is currently being drafted for the Mezcal Denomination of Origin. This regulatory framework is what defines what can and cannot be called mezcal as well as what practices are allowed under the D.O. We will be linking the current draft on our website (its only available in Spanish but you can feed it into your favorite translator. (Link in bio).
