The easiest way to have a beginner’s mindset is to be a actual beginner. Haha. Imagine that. Go learn something new. Be humbled. When I learn a new skill I am always so amazed at how easy the pros make it look.

Let’s take fly fishing for example. I have fished since I was a little kid. I’m pretty good at casting a regular pole. How hard could it be? My first couple cast were 15 feet where my friends could whip it out there 100 feet. There are so many little nuances that go into it and you quickly realize how much you don’t know.

I try to keep my ego in check and my mind constantly open. Keep this thought process and bring it to the things you are good at. Just because you have had success and may be better at certain skills than most of the people you know doesn’t mean there still isn’t lots to learn. And you will never learn them if you let your mind and ego think they know everything.

Another easy way to keep yourself in check is to surround yourself with people who are better than you. If you are the top dog your ego will cloud your thoughts and your mind will close.

Summerstrong 18

This moment embodies why Summerstrong is so special.

@brandonlilly3 in my ear telling me “do not fucking let go, don’t fucking quit”

Everyone yelling and raising the energy in the room in encouragement and support.

A lot of whom are the same people who have sent the same encouragement this entire past year as I worked through rehab getting back on my feet and getting to 100% recovered.

I didn’t hit an All Time PR, but as I walked off the platform I realized I had already hit a post surgery PR, and looking back at this past year, I’m pretty damn happy to be where I am in a little over a years time.

This network of strength Pops and @bertsorin brought together is special, and I’m forever grateful to have burnt the gas to go to my first Summerstrong 5 years ago and be welcomed with open arms. To go to war with Pop’s bar was a special moment

@evanarmstrong1 said it perfectly

“It can’t be described, only experienced”

Forever grateful for all of those in my corner, seeing you all again and being able to step back on the platform with you all was the highlight of the weekend. Thank you for all the support this past year.

My cup is overflowing

Q1 review for the shareholders: chaotic but charming. ROI mostly vibes, but morale is high.
