We are looking ahead to Thanksgiving Weekend at The County Museums! Macaulay House will be the backdrop to the Scarecrow Festival this Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm. Guests can enjoy the museum during the beauty of fall, see some spooky decorations and partake in community fun. The best part? You can make your own scarecrow! 🍂 In the spirt of Scarecrow Festival, we've shared an image from the Marsden Kemp fonds, a series of photographs taken from the late 1800s to early 1900s across Eastern Ontario. Pictured here is "Children Making a Scarecrow in a Field". Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, Wellington Heritage Museum and A Path Forward will be open for their regular hours on Saturday, from 1pm-4pm, but please note that these museum sites will be closed on Sunday, October 11th. Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!🦃

Does Friday's rainy forecast have you down? Rest assured, we have two events taking place on Halloween that will provide ample indoor opportunity to show off your costumes and get into the Halloween spirit! 👻 1 - The grand finale of Terror at Macaulay 4 will be taking place at Macaulay Heritage Park tomorrow, starting at 5pm. Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite or at the door. Many of the scares take place within historic Macaulay House, giving you the opportunity to keep cozy. There are outdoor elements to enjoy during this event as well, so it is still encouraged to dress for the weather. 2 - The lovely, wonderful Wellington on the Lake will be handing out candy inside Wellington Heritage Museum this Friday as well! Starting around 5pm and going until about 7pm (or until candy runs out), this group welcomes families to step inside for trick or treating! 3 - While you are Wellington Heritage Museum, be sure to peek outside into the back garden to see the Annual Pumpkin Walk! The pumpkins are now set up for your enjoyment. Come out and see all the creative carvings lining our back garden. Saturday and Sunday, it will be time to switch gears from Halloween! At Macaulay Heritage Park, enjoy guided house tours on Saturday at Macaulay House, with our resident expert and longtime volunteer Nancy W. Additionally, A Path Forward continues to feature the wonderful works of Feature Artist Trevor Brant. Wellington Heritage Museum continues to display Wellington Remembers, featuring stories of local veterans, and interesting artifacts on loan such as trench art. This display will be on until November 16th and is a very worthwhile display to visit! Macaulay Heritage Park and Wellington Heritage Museum are open from 1pm-4pm all weekend long. Ameliasburgh Heritage Village continues to be closed this weekend.

come behind the scenes of The Witches with me & my sistaaaahs ✨ we so often share a finished, polished product— but some of the most beautiful and rewarding moments are spent in the process of creation from evening rehearsals with some in attendance on zoom, to VO records, to set up and fuelling, late night notes on character development in the kitchen, and a couple of laughs… I’m so incredibly grateful for my creatrixes ♥️ The Witches was a Canada Council for the Arts funded Theatre on Fire co-pro between @northfirecircus @basswitchcoven & @terroratmacaulay. Huge thank you to @isabellahoops’s incredible grant writing that made this iteration possible… and don’t worry if you missed it… we’ll be back 😈
