WE GOT A NEW PARK… but it’s still not open? 🫠

It takes more than land to open a park. TRUST, if it were that simple we’d all be frolicking in the park together.

But before any park opens, we have to learn the land and make sure we can protect it properly for future generations. This means a lot of planning, public feedback, surveys, and plenty of research.

A few months back we acquired Silver Lake State Park, becoming the second largest park in our system. Now @texasparkswildlife biologist are documenting fish species and ensuring the water is safe for recreation.

Sometimes God leads us into deep waters, not because He intends for us to drown, but because He intends to reveal Himself in ways we could never experience on the shore. The waters that feel overwhelming are often the very place where He teaches us to trust Him completely. What pursues you fear, guilt, pride, temptation, or even the enemy himself does not have the final word. God is able to make a way where there seems to be none, just as He parted the Red Sea before Israel and closed it behind them. The place that looked like certain defeat became the place of God’s greatest deliverance. Trust the One who calls you into the deep, because He never abandons those He leads. 👑🌍

What makes someone a true Texan?#
Growing up with my father — a man I consider a genuine Texas original — I learned that being Texan isn’t just about where you’re from.
It’s about character.
In this short video I share five simple traits that define real Texas culture, from the famous Texas nod to driving friendly on our highways.
These lessons are something I was reminded of recently after returning to Dallas from San Antonio, and they feel more important today than ever.
Whether you’re a lifelong Texan or someone new to the Lone Star State, these traditions are part of what makes Texas special.
The nod.
Eye contact.
A firm handshake.
Respect for the land.
And driving friendly.
Some of these traditions feel like they’re fading — but the good news is culture can always be rebuilt when we remember what matters.

Wild pigs destroy ecosystems and cost BILLIONS every year.

The recent freeze reduced the viability of acorns across much of Texas, cutting off a key natural food source. With less food available, pigs move farther and respond more readily to bait, creating one of the best trapping windows. Even if you have not seen hogs yet, prepare now.

Watching the clear water of Cibilo Creek moving and giggling on its way south through Crescent Bend Nature Park, at Schertz TX, I noticed this small Fall colored leaf 🍁, letting the water gently move around and past it. It was beautiful and I wondered why the leaf wasn’t moving along with the riffles - then I noticed the leaf’s steam seemed to be stuck to the rock below it. Then I knew, the leaf just wanted to enjoy the moment, the smooth loving hugs from the water, and wasn’t interested in a wild little adventure on this day, at this moment.
So let’s just relax for a “moment” and enjoy that thought. 🥰
