Our Hillsboro Campus is putting down roots for the future! On Oct. 9, Hill College welcomed volunteers from Atmos Energy and the community to plant 100 trees in support of our expanding campus trail system.

With support from Atmos Energy and the Texas Trees Foundation, we're continuing to create outdoor spaces that promote wellness, recreation, learning, and community connection. These new trees will provide shade, enhance our natural landscape, and help make our trails even more inviting for years to come.

Every tree planted is an investment in our campus and the people who call it home. 💚

A special thank-you to Atmos Energy, the Texas Trees Foundation, and all the volunteers who helped us grow!

We love partnering with @texastreesfoundation and its Cool Schools program. Cool Schools connect students and teachers to nature by planting trees and creating fun and engaging outdoor experiential learning areas. These spaces cultivate children’s knowledge and awareness of the natural environment.

So where do we come in? The murals, of course.

By partnering with local muralist @izkart we were able to further brighten and give vibrancy to @disdbiomed , so that students can color their world with beauty, peace and inspiration.

Thank you, Dallas!🌿

“Dear Laurie Berkner Band and Fans,

Your gift to Texas Trees Foundation makes a powerful difference by helping us plant and care for trees that improve the health of people and neighborhoods across North Texas.

Thanks to you, we’re creating cooler, greener spaces that improve air quality, reduce urban heat, and bring lasting shade to communities that need them most. From schoolyards to parks and streetscapes, these shared spaces become healthier outdoor environments where children and families can thrive. And while the impact of your gift begins immediately, it will continue to grow for decades as these trees take root and flourish.

Where trees grow, people thrive. Thank you for being apart of that future.” @laurieberknerband @texastreesfoundation @majestictheatredallas

During Irving’s Environmental Career Symposium, students and job seekers met with professionals from government, nonprofit and private-sector organizations. Held Sept. 11 at Vistra Corporation headquarters, the free event highlighted emerging career paths as North Texas' rapid growth creates pressing ecological challenges, from air pollution and shrinking native prairie to mounting pressure on regional water...

Walkability is about more than getting from one place to another. It’s about creating streets where people feel safe, comfortable, connected, and welcome.

The @swmdtransformation project demonstrates what it means to design for the pedestrian experience. Community input identified a vision for Harry Hines Boulevard as a street that works for people who walk, bike, take transit, and drive, and connects hospitals, neighborhoods, and key destinations.

That means thinking about the details that make walking possible and enjoyable: safer crossings, accessible pathways, connections to transit, and separation between people and moving vehicles. It also means recognizing that comfort is a critical part of walkability.

In the Southwestern Medical District, evidence-based design is being used to strategically place trees and vegetation where they can provide shade along high foot traffic areas, buffer pedestrians from air pollution, and create a more comfortable walking environment.

Modeling shows the planned tree grove planting layout could reduce temperatures along sidewalks by as much as 20 degrees. This approach recognizes that it's not enough to create a place where people can walk, but that we need to create environments where people want to walk.

When streets prioritize people, shade, safety, accessibility, and connection, walking becomes more than a means from Point A to Point B. It becomes a key part of a healthier urban experience. 🌳🚶‍♀️

New trees on the block! 🌳

The Dallas Museum of Art is a little greener this summer thanks to a generous donation from the @texastreesfoundation and @downtown_dallas.

As they put down roots and grow alongside our community, we thought they deserved honorary names. 👀

Got a creative idea? Drop your best tree names in the comments—we’d love to see what you come up with! 🌿

This week, we kicked off year 3️⃣ of our partnership with @texastreesfoundation and their Cool Schools Extended Program! 🌳

Not only will CCA students learn about urban forestry, connect with nature, and engage with the community. They’ll also learn about green careers, which ties perfectly into our focus on career and technical education and exposing students to pathways to economic stability.

We’re so grateful for this partnership and the opportunities available to our students through this program!
