Miles Davis completaria 100 anos hoje!

With Beyond Music, we believe in the transformative power of music, and in the ability of artists and their work to encourage and amplify social change. We are immensely grateful for our growing global community and network of artists who are deeply committed to their local communities and causes around the world. It is in this spirit that we celebrate the fortieth anniversary of Live Aid - the landmark global benefit concert staged in 1985 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds and awareness for famine relief in Ethiopia. Broadcast live to an unprecedented worldwide audience, the dual events in London and Philadelphia united the biggest names in popular music and redefined the power of culture as a catalyst for humanitarian action. Live Aid set a new model for large-scale charity concerts, demonstrating how music could mobilise global solidarity and tangible aid at a historic scale.

40 years ago today, the world tuned in for Live Aid—a global concert event that united continents, raised millions for famine relief in Ethiopia, and reminded us of the power of music to move mountains.

Among the legendary performances that day, one stands apart in its quiet storm: Sade (@sade), performing “Is It A Crime” with grace, intensity, and effortless command. No fireworks, no theatrics. At Wembley, she slowed time with a ballad that bled heartbreak and elegance in equal measure.

In a lineup stacked with stadium rock and power ballads, Sade brought subtlety—her voice smoky, her band dialed in, the moment unforgettable.

My love is wider, wider than Victoria Lake.
My love is taller, taller than the Empire State.
It dives, it jumps, and it ripples like the deepest ocean.
I can't give you more than that
Surely, you want me back.

Sade performed "Is It a Crime" at the Live Aid benefit concert on July 13, 1985, at Wembley Stadium in London. The performance was part of a set that highlighted her smooth jazz-soul style to a global audience.

Sade delivered a notable, calm performance during the massive, televised, global charity event.
The performance was part of her rise to international stardom following the success of her debut album, Diamond Life.

#throwbackthursday We forgot to pause and honour the passing of Brian Wilson a few months back—one of the true architects of modern popular music.

Wilson’s genius reshaped how we think about songwriting, harmony, and production. He pushed The Beach Boys far beyond surf pop, building a sound that was lush, emotional, and deeply human.

Pet Sounds remains an album that continues to stand the test of time. With its intricate vocal arrangements, orchestral textures, and emotional vulnerability, it’s often cited as one of the greatest albums ever made (and it’s certainly at the top of our list).

A visionary who heard music in colours and textures, Brian Wilson gave us not just songs, but entire sound worlds. His influence echoes through generations of artists—from The Beatles to Radiohead—and will never fade.

Rest in harmony, Brian. Your sound will forever be with us.
