We shot the dialogue scene on two 6K cinema cameras with cine prime lenses and a subtle mist filter, creating a high-quality cinematic look with gently “rounded” edges due to a soft highlight roll-off. For camera movement, the dialogue scene was kept entirely on sticks to preserve the intimacy and stillness of the characters. In contrast, the kitchen scene was shot handheld, while the outdoor montage combined handheld and gimbal work to bring a more dynamic energy to the higher-intensity moments of the film. #camera #filmproduction #filmmaking #BTS #browniemaryfilm ____________ Brownie Mary: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Dennis: Richard Remédios @richard_remediost Written and directed by: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Co-Director: Christopher M. PARKED CAR SCENE In this scene, Brownie Mary and Dennis were delivering brownies to private households. As you can see, extras walking past, skating, doing everyday things. What’s an extra? Extras are people that lowkey act in the background. Background actors. In this case, they had to act like in the 80s. Dress code, no phones, etc. #BehindTheScenes #Browniemaryfilm #carscene #Lisbon #FilmLocation _____ Brownie Mary: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Dennis: Richard Remédios @richard_remediost Written and directed by: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Co-Director: Christopher M. THE PARK SCENE A little behind-the-scenes moment: Dennis and Brownie Mary chatting and smoking on a park bench. This scene helped capture the feeling of 1980s San Francisco, with Lisbon’s Ponte 25 de Abril bridge standing in for the city’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge. The first slide features a colour-graded screenshot from the edited movie. *Did you know?* The Ponte 25 de Abril in Lisbon and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco were both designed by the same engineering firm (American Bridge Company). #BehindTheScenes #Browniemaryfilm #GoldenGateBridge #Lisbon #FilmLocation _____ Brownie Mary: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Dennis: Richard Remédios @richard_remediost Written and directed by: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Co-Director: Christopher M. Mary Jane Rathbun a.k.a Brownie Mary was a true pioneer, far ahead of her time. Ironically, her first name, „Mary Jane,“ later became a popular slang term for marijuana – as if she was destined to become one of the movement’s most iconic advocates. How many facts about Brownie Mary did you already know? Do you know more facts about her? #browniemaryfilm #maryjanerathbun #feminism #cannabis #facts

NARROW SPACES The first slide shows a screenshot of the final edited shot. In the second, our DoP, Chris (@camcat), is shooting from a tight corner, fully cramped into the space. In tight corridors and cramped frames, every movement matters. There’s no room to hide, only to adapt, to improvise, and to let the space shape the story as much as the characters do. #narrowspaces #indiefilm #browniemaryfilm #BTS #Lisbon ____ Brownie Mary: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Dennis: Richard Remédios @richard_remediost Written and directed by: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Co-Director: Christopher M. Meet our sound wizard, Vittorio @san.ci_ , operating the boom pole. With the boom pole in his hands, he’s catching every word while staying perfectly out of frame. That’s true magic. Not always seen, but always felt: Sound. Dialogue, ambience, and sound effects work together to create emotion, build tension, and bring every scene to life. #boompole #sound #indiefilm #browniemaryfilm #BTS _____ Brownie Mary: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Dennis: Richard Remédios @richard_remediost Written and directed by: Frankie Rooney @frankie_rooney Co-Director: Christopher M. The Dining Room Scene: In this scene, Mary Jane prepared the orders, placing the brownies into aluminum trays and adding an address note to every order to make sure everyone received their delivery. We used 4 different lights to create a unique effect: reflected sunlight from outside, a key light, a headlight, and a fill light. Screenshots will follow soon to show the behind-the-scenes even better. Stay tuned! The whole movie has been shot and is currently baking in the oven, waiting for its perfect color to come out. It'll be a sweet treat - a visual treat with a moving story. _________ #browniemaryfilm #BTS #diningroomscene #indiefilm #movies
