our rollerskating glitter baby EP ‘what if nobody kisses me?’ is 2 years old today 🥹💖🛼

i have such a soft spot for her… she was bold-loud-messy-hungry and pieced together by my village, my eyebags, and a dream. but most importantly, y’all were there!!! rollerskating and jumping and singing and crying!!! that concert still goes down as one of the best nights of my life, and i will simply never shut up about her!

i write this now, 2 years later, still fond of her, but not so much all the little quirks that being a freelancer and indie artist entails… but would i do it all over again? a million times yes :)

itching for the next era RAHHHHHHHH

it was so much fun but truly such a rough period for my finances!!! never wished harder to be a nepo baby but we got out of there eventually :)

i love my friends. they are my family here in sg and words cannot express the joy i feel when i make music and art with them!!!

i am so so so lucky and this is my favourite thing in the world to do!!!!!!! oh my god

moments before we found an electronic pump in the store room btw…

these big heart balloons were like 5 feet tall

it was rly cool to be able to prove to myself that i could show up and be consistent and root for myself! i also learned how to edit quickly and in a way that keeps audience retention because of this campaign :)

my editing style developed during this time

BRUH this was my toxic trait 😭

if you’re organising a show u rly have to have so much self control in order to not spiral and stress about ticket sales…

im grateful im in a better place now, but back then it was either i sold out the whole show or i can’t pay rent lawl! what a crazy way to light a fire under ur ass (it worked though)

everyone was so gorgiana grande that night…

and we crowned this cutie pie as our best dressed!!!

planned the whole release + concert for 7 months including shoots, rehearsals, making mixed media assets, working out how to put a stage with tech into a skating rink, etc. by the time i released the ep and did press for it, i was burnt out 😭

no manager no team just a feller with amazingly talented friends who believed in the project

the village really villaged

Sometimes, my musical journey can feel quite lonely. Having a disability seems to place me in a different "sector" of the industry - like I'm not really a "local musician" but a "performer with disabilities". I'm also not usually very social, so I struggle to meet people or make friends - both within and outside the music community.

It can create some feelings of self-doubt sometimes, and I often feel nervous about attending large social events like this. But my friends have been really encouraging and supportive, and kept inviting me to come along, so I attended the COMPASS Awards for the second time. ( " ^^)

and I'm so glad I did! I met so many familiar faces - people who have uplifted me somewhere along my journey and who showered me with love, and who made me feel seen as a person beyond our physical differences.

It reminded me that everybody is trying their best in our own individual lives, and I'm not as alone as I often feel. There are so many people who have shown me warmth, and people who welcome me to be a part of their adventures. And I'm so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet them, and I look forward to getting to know more beautiful souls along the way.

Big hugs to everyone who spent some time with me that day, and thanks for making my night so comforting and memorable! 🙆🏻‍♂️💖

always a blast at @compassmusicsg js seeing some of my local music favs, some of them performing & receiving some pretty cool awards and i was particularly moved by @wweishh's speech about how tiny the community is but how much power there is too, and how we continue to inspire each other in our own little ways & it rly reminded me that all that matters is that we gotta show up for each other AND ourselves. do not stop believing in what u r born to do: CREATE!!!' 🫪✨❤️🇸🇬
