POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Today marks TWO YEARS since I started at Abrams! This past year brought (most notably) a promotion to Sales Representative and a vote YES to form @abramsunion, plus opportunities to travel the country, work conventions, sell fantastic books, and make new friends. I am so grateful to be cultivating such a fulfilling career.

TODAY IS THE DAY!!!! The fangtastic day where CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT, the first book in the WHEN MONSTERS WAKE series is finally out in the world. Victoria, Savanna, and the entire book team have worked so hard on this one and created a modern gothic masterpiece that brings all the fun of DRACULA into a high school setting. I’ve always wanted to edit a vampire book like this, and I just couldn’t be more thrilled with how it’s turned out. Go get your copy today! And spot the special cameo me and the book team make. Unsurpisingly, in-world Emily is as obsessed with Raf as I am! 🧛🏼🪦📸🎞️🖤

It’s here!!! Kindred Dragons’ release day!!!

Seems like the perfect time to share these incredibly kind book blurbs. I’m beyond grateful to Ben, Kazu, Amy, Mike, and Jaimal for saying such nice things about Kindred Dragons. Not only are they all wonderful people who have inspired me over the years, they are also all tremendously talented creators. If you don’t know their various works, I highly recommend seeking them out.

Thank you to my awesome agent, Mark Gottlieb, for finding a home for Alice’s story, and thank you also to everyone at Abrams Books who made Kindred Dragons a reality. I secretly think I have the best editor ever in Charlotte Greenbaum & am still delighted and amazed that she wanted to work with me. Andy Miller did a BEAUTIFUL job with the book design. And I’d probably still be coloring pages if Daniel Carvalho and Elliot Nanney hadn’t swooped in to help me flat. Thank you also to my super supportive husband Stephen, the rest of my family–near and far–and to everyone in the DFW Writers’ Workshop for being such a great creative community.

If you are heading to Interabang Books tonight, I’ll see you there! I’m looking forward to chatting about creating Kindred Dragons with my good friend, author Alexis Lantgen, and drawing a dragon or two! :)

I can’t even count the number of times I’ve organically spoken this title over the last few years. Cause yes, it’s HARD to be a baby! I’ve been counting down the days until this hilarious, empathetic, adorable book by @chavelaque & @juana_medina can be my go-to baby gift forevermore and it’s finally here! #ItsHardtoBeaBaby!
🩷💜🩵
Hey there, babies.
I hear you.
Everyone thinks your lives are easy.
But you and I know the truth . . .
It’s hard to be a baby!

You’re always being picked up and put down. You have to tell people everything—when you’re hot, when you’re hungry—but they don’t always get what you need. And some of your clothes are REALLY goofy. But hang in there, babies—everything will get better!

With a wise and surprising narrator and charmingly expressive illustrations, this new classic will help exhausted parents remember that their babies, too, are figuring everything out for the first time—and find a few laughs along the way. It’s the perfect picture book for caregivers and their little ones to enjoy together.

🌟 “There’s something for everyone in these gently funny pages: warmhearted solace for new parents, support for freshly minted siblings, and tender empathy for the very newest among us.”

Congratulations on your glowing debut, @bowru! I was blown away by this unique story and Bo’s way-cool art style from the moment I first read #BaosDoll.
🌙
Inspired by her childhood, Bo Lu’s poignant debut picture book is a moving story of empathy, forgiveness, and connection, about an immigrant mother and her daughter who discover they have more in common than they ever knew.
🌙
Whenever Mama says, “when I was a little girl in Taiwan, we had nothing,” Bao stops listening. Mama does not understand Bao, and Bao certainly does not understand Mama.

So when Bao desperately wants a doll—specifically, the beautiful, blonde All-American Artist Amanda doll that everyone else has—Bao takes matters into her own hands and steals Amanda from the store. After getting caught, Bao’s chest feels heavy like a giant rock. But gradually, the awkward silence between Bao and Mama shifts to honesty, and eventually, a deeper understanding of what binds them.
🌙
“An immigrant story that heals wounds present and past.”

“A resonant debut that affirms family as well as cultural heritage.”

It’s BILLIE BLASTER day, hooray! BILLIE is the first middle grade graphic novel from Laini Taylor and Jim Di Bartolo, and it’s about genius young inventor Billie Blaster and her attempts to control an invention that’s gotten way out of control. It’s so fun and funny and visually stunning - and it has been a joy to work with Laini and Jim and designer Andy Miller and the rest of the Abrams team on this one. Check it out in bookstores and online now!
