With Kevin Durand and Michael Pitt, it is a slow-burn survival drama that erupts into bloody, grotesque creature horror — a Western Gothic nightmare in the tradition of Ravenous and Bone Tomahawk that builds to a crescendo of dread and leaves you hungry for more.

In an industry that constantly feels like an uphill battle, being seen and recognized is something truly special. I’ve been acting for eight years and got my first nomination and win as best supporting actor.

My parents came to set with me and froze behind the monitor while I was freezing in front of it. They made this life possible for me.

Thanks to @thatcaseywalker for being an incredible human and making this film. And @vancouverhorrorshow for having and celebrating the film we froze our butts off for. And thank you to my friends and family who came out !

When I started this festival and podcast, my intention was to always focus on building genuine connections and community instead of numbers of followers, likes, or whatever labels social media has.
But what I didn’t expect was the beautiful friendships I built throughout this journey.
Last week, I met every filmmaker I interviewed during my @fantasiafestival coverage.
At the premiere of Unholy Night at @vancouverhorrorshow , I met @michaelgabrieledirector , @colleenlindl and, and the cast for the first time. Every single person remembered my name, my video review, and my interview with Michael. Jacqueline (who played Nonna) took the time to encourage me to keep doing what I’m doing and told me I’m a great interviewer. Now, we’re planning to go for coffee soon 🥹
Often times, I cringe so much after each interview and review, wondering if they are good enough.

The next day, I went to the premiere of Ancestral Beats and met @michifkoonteur in person for the first time too. We’ve only been DM’ing on IG, but it felt like we’ve been friends for a long time.

On my way to the screening, I saw @thatcaseywalker , who I also interviewed about Home Bodies, and he recognized me (didn’t know my hair stood out that much 😂). I was too shy to ask for a photo, but I shot my shot, and it felt so awesome to chat with him so freely.
This experience reminded me how crucial it is to be kind in our reviews. There is no bad art, and there is no bad movie. It’s okay not to like a movie, but it’s important to remember each movie has a whole team who put their blood, sweat, and tears into it. It’s a very vulnerable thing to share our art with the world.

This kind of love between “strangers” on the internet is something I will never take for granted. We are never strangers to each other.
I am grateful I never gave up on this dream of mine and kept showing up even at my lowest.

Day 2 of @vancouverhorrorshow Film Festival was screamin’ good time! 📼

Enjoyed seeing the shorts program 1 filled with so much talent and originality!

Then a screening of Ithaqua directed by @thatcaseywalker which was a really gripping, bone chilling and atmospheric film. Followed by a Q&A with Casey, @leenahrobinson & @brynmccashin. What a pleasure to not only see the film but to hear about the making of it.

Last but not least, I got to attend a screening of Sleep No More. An Indonesian body horror that really made me want to balance my work life (or maybe never work again honestly). Thought provoking, perplexing and innovative.

Now onto day 3!

We also went behind the scenes of genre casting with our Inside the Casting Room panel with @monikadalmancasting and @lallytillingcasting before closing out the night with Sleep No More!

Set in 19th-century Canada, an American mercenary is forced to lead a trading party to a nearby Indigenous village, where they discover a horrifying massacre. But the supernatural evil behind it doesn’t stay there, it follows them back to their remote fort.

As the settlement becomes increasingly isolated, fear takes hold and a terrifying curse awakens. Something ancient is lurking in the wilderness, and its hunger is far from satisfied. Think frontier horror, dark folklore, brutal isolation and an ancient evil that will leave you feeling VERY uneasy!

I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I enjoyed this one! The bleak atmosphere, relentless sense of isolation and moments of gruesome gore kept me on edge, while the folklore elements made it even more intriguing.

Ithaqua delivers a dark, chilling experience that kept me invested throughout. It’s the kind of horror that makes you appreciate the warmth of your own home afterwards! 😂

And what makes this one even more exciting? Ithaqua marks Hammer Films return with its first studio release in 60 years!!

If you’re a fan of atmospheric horror, supernatural folklore and a bit of blood-soaked brutality, this one is definitely worth keeping a lookout for!
