Bite Twice rated Sqew… but what did they actually give us?

Bite Twice are some of the biggest, and more importantly most respected food reviewers in the country.

They’re known for proper, no-nonsense reviews. No freebies, no favours, and they always pay their bill.

Well, they came to Sqew!

Sent us a pic of them inside and then… crickets for 24 hours.

The next day, we saw the review…… 😅

The best hummus in the world?

Abu Mahjoub - a quaint 50-year-old takeaway tucked away in the dusty streets of Amman, Jordan - might just be it.

Can we replicate that here at Sqew? No.

The setting, the culture, the history, the heritage, that belongs to Jordan.

Can we be inspired? Yes. And that I was.

Super smooth, rich Lebanese olive oil, and green shatta bringing a touch of heat and citrus. Perfect.

Authentic. Always.

You already know where we’re going for lunch in Leeds, not only because it’s the #1 shawarma in the UK and have just dropped a new menu, but also to just stare at the best looking man in street food @thatsqewguy

I tried the Saj crispy chicken which is wrapped in an ultra thin Levantine flat bread with pickles and extra toum 🥒 and it comes with chips

The only shawarma I will ever eat sober because you just can’t beat it

WHAT WE’VE BEEN SCRANNING IN AND AROUND LEEDS 🤤

I know we say this more or less every month, but ruddy hell, we’ve eaten GOOD this April.

We’ve been munching our way around new openings like @the_smithfield, @thisismadre, and @made_uk; visited @sqew.uk, @bundobust, and @thewoodscpa for their new menus, as well as returning to one of Leeds’ best spots: @bavette. Told you we weren’t lying. 🙌

Unsure if May can top this, but we shall see, as there are some very exciting places we are visiting - watch this space...
