In 2020, we saw a video that changed everything. Aisha, a NYC carriage horse, tragically collapsed and d!ed in Central Park (slide 5). That moment lit a fire in us and helped launch our fight to end horse-drawn carriages in Philadelphia. This summer, we made history when legislation to ban them was officially introduced.

Now it’s finally time for the horses in New York City to have their moment. Despite years of opposition, advocates never gave up. And now, the horses will finally have their freedom.

Thank you to @nyclass, @votersforanimalrights, and every single activist for never giving up on this. You truly inspire us and your efforts will have an impact on the future of using animals for entertainment around the world.

Thank you to @speakermenin and the dozens of council members that co-sponsored #RomanchsLaw. Your compassion is something all elected officials should have.

Thank you to the Coalition for Responsible Carriage Horse Retirement for stepping in and creating a comprehensive plan to ensure every single horse in New York City has a safe forever home. @redfeatherfarmnc @melsobo @thismustanglife

On October 22nd, the vote to ban horse carriages will be happening, as well as a rally. Be there to witness a truly momentous occasion!

UPDATE

Amber is the third friend we lost to cancer this month.

The third.

She deserved more out of life but these are the cards that are dealt when humans treat animals like objects. Did you know that chickens are not supposed to lay eggs every day? In the wild (yes there are wild chickens!) chickens lay 10-15 eggs a YEAR. This constant reproduction has led to an increase of cancer amongst the population. We see it all too often.

Amber was rescued as a rouge chicken found by an activist in the right place at the right time. @thatvegantiffany put out a call for help to find sanctuary for this beautiful girl and we answered. Amber fit right in to the flock here. Almost instantly a top hen here she lived a beautiful life surrounded by friends. Amber was so gentle and kind. Her big bold eyes would steal your heart. She loved fresh veggies and dried mealworms. Amber was someone.

Thank you to Dr. Camilla from @capeveterinaryhospital for your guidance and expertise (and Dr. Jacob for your consultation). If there was a fighting chance Amber could have survived this we would have fought hard. Sadly, she was ready to leave this world and we had to say goodbye.

Fly free beautiful Amber. 🌈

Yesterday, we met an incredible person named Mia. Mia attended Philly Pride last weekend and was nearly trampled on by a horse used by cops to brutalize people.

This left her traumatized, but inspired to speak up for horses, including the horses used for carriages. Thank you so much, @mia.rivera for your advocacy!!!

Follow Mia on YouTube @ miaRTV‼️

We can hardly believe it, but it finally happened after years and years of persistence.

We hope this historic legislation for horses in Philadelphia creates a domino effect in other cities, starting with New York. Horse carriages are OVER!!

You guys really showed up in the biggest way and we couldn’t be more grateful to be part of such an amazing community ❤️ because of you, we were able to donate $251 to @goatsofanarchy on the community’s behalf (screenshot of transfer is second to last photo)

Food vendors @btwitsvegan, @hot_vings, and @bigheart_bakes sold out within the first 2 hours (!!!) Our latest substack by our co-founder, @mansi.bhagwate, not only honors who we’ve lost, but talks about how we can care for one another.

We have a huge group of passionate activists that also work in the therapy space and we’ll be creating something really powerful soon. This will be a resource for all activists and rescuers and anyone impacted by the grief of doing what we do.

In the meantime, we are here. Our DMs are always open. 🫂

@zombiebot forever and ever and ever in our hearts ❤️

Last night, we received the devastating news that the world lost an incredible human, Adam Altman.

There is so much to say about Adam- he was a vegan for 30(!) years, he dedicated his life to standing up for humans and animals. He fought alongside us many times over the years. He loved music and even did this awesome mixtape to raise money for us.

His contribution to the animal rights movement cannot be overstated. Adam had the softest heart and he cared so much.

The world is less without him. It’s just less.

We are so sorry to everyone that knew and loved him, and we’re sorry to those who didn’t have the honor of knowing him. We are so sorry to his beloved cat, Devi and can only imagine the grief she is experiencing. And most of all, we are sorry to Adam. We love you, Adam. You will be dearly missed.

We will share any additional info about services, memorials, etc once we know them. We will also plan something to honor Adam soon. @zombiebot

I want to start building events that fundraise for animal advocacy and liberation organizations—like @revolution_philadelphia and @uncleneilshome.

I’d love to find the vegans in our music community so we can work together to support organizations fighting to end animal cruelty and suffering.
