In 2020, we saw a video that changed everything. Aisha, a NYC carriage horse, tragically collapsed and d!ed in Central Park (slide 5). That moment lit a fire in us and helped launch our fight to end horse-drawn carriages in Philadelphia. This summer, we made history when legislation to ban them was officially introduced.

Now it’s finally time for the horses in New York City to have their moment. Despite years of opposition, advocates never gave up. And now, the horses will finally have their freedom.

Thank you to @nyclass, @votersforanimalrights, and every single activist for never giving up on this. You truly inspire us and your efforts will have an impact on the future of using animals for entertainment around the world.

My personal hero @claire_victoria314 rescued birds from ritual slaughter alongside so many incredible people I love and admire. We’re raising money for the survivors that will be spending their lives with Claire at @born2runfarmsanctuary. They deserve nothing but the absolute most…especially after all they’ve been through. Thank you @claire_victoria314 @savedbythebean @wrathofsanity @kaporoscompassion and everyone that is on the frontlines year after year, saving lives despite the tremendous adversity they face. You all are appreciated more than you know! by @thatvegantiffany

Every year when Kaporos comes up, I reflect back on the first time I rescued someone. The year was 2020 and that someone was Phoenix.

At just 6 weeks old, her fate was to be used in a ritualistic k!lling, but the universe had other plans. We got her to safety and she spent several years in sanctuary with @lancasterfarmsanctuary. She was so special.

As Kaporos approaches, please keep the innocent animals in your thoughts. Please, please support @kaporoscompassion because they are the ones on the front lines saving lives.

Animals don’t exist for food, clothing, entertainment or some weird ass religious ceremony. Leave them alone.

I shared this on my story yesterday and only decided to post it because a bunch of people actually did reach out for resources!! Healthcare is a RIGHT and having access to it should not be dependent on your income.

For low cost/free access to cancer screenings:

If you’re local to PA, the state has a program called Pennsylvania Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. For more info, call 215-985-3300 or TEXT the phrase “screeningmatters” to 66746. For specific information, you can email info@accessmatters.org.

If you are NOT in PA, DM me and I’ll try to find out info from where you live!

Increased survival rates of cancer are largely because of early detection. I got lucky this time, but there are countless people, including people under 40, living with this life changing diagnosis.

I’ve been in animal advocacy for a long time, but I was not prepared for the scene I came upon last week.

I don’t do rescue typically. I’ve never done TNR. But I couldn’t ignore this.

Several cats (we still don’t know how many) left to the elements to fend for themselves. This often starts with ONE CAT being unfixed. And this goes back to people being completely careless and irresponsible for their companion animals.

I am beyond grateful to have connections and resources because @claire_victoria314 and I were able to rescue SIX CATS today, including 3 neonates (two additional cats rescued earlier this week). There are pregnant cats, injured cats, sick cats, ferals and friendlies.

I knew cats were in crisis. I see it everyday from fellow orgs, advocates and rescues. But I think I needed to see it for myself to see what a huge, massive problem this is. Cats are in crisis and the only ones doing anything about it are usupported, understaffed, under funded and overwhelmed.

PLEASE spay and neuter your cats. PLEASE. Please don’t dump them. And if you’re feeding cats, be a responsible adult and get them fixed. There are a ton of rescues and orgs out there that can help you with this. The ignorance of the general public is astounding. And in the meantime, cats upon cats upon cats suffer greatly.

We still haven’t gotten them all. It’s huge undertaking and it’ll take time. This is just ONE place. Multiply by the thousands and that’s where we are.

Meet Ellie. ❤️

A few days ago, this beautiful hen was found wandering the streets of Philadelphia. When we heard her story, we knew we wanted to welcome her to Fluffy Butt Rescue.

She is named in honor of Ellie, a passionate animal advocate and co-founder of Revolution Philadelphia, who brought us our very first flock of rescued Cornish Cross chickens in 2020. Those birds became the foundation of our chicken family, teaching so many visitors that chickens are individuals with unique personalities, emotions, and a deep desire to simply live.

Ellie’s kindness, compassion, and advocacy touched countless lives—human and animal alike. After Ellie’s passing, when we learned about this sweet hen from Philadelphia, we knew right away that we wanted to give her a home and carry Ellie’s name forward.

Earlier this year, six years after they first arrived, we said goodbye to the last member of that original flock.

The timing felt meant to be. Giving this sweet girl a safe forever home while honoring the legacy of someone who loved animals so deeply feels like a beautiful tribute.

Welcome home, Ellie.

A heartfelt thank you to the small army of people who made her rescue possible: Sarah for rescuing her, Jen @phillyveganmarket for fostering her over the weekend, @thatvegantiffany and @j.sanchize for connecting all the pieces that made her rescue possible, Jonathan for transporting her, and @revolution_philadelphia for funding her initial veterinary visit.

Veg fest vibes ❤️
