years of teaching, thousands of bodies, and a few “well, that cue I was taught didn’t work” moments later… here’s what i know. 😉

1. “my guru said so” ( and I’ll probably get kick back for this 🙋🏼‍♀️) isn’t an anatomy lesson.
respect the lineage. understand the body in front of you. tradition deserves respect. instructions deserve questions.

2. the front row cannot be your entire lesson plan.
they’d follow you into a handstand during a fire drill. we love them. teach everyone else, too.

3. your foot behind your head tells me about your practice.
helping someone understand their own body tells me about your teaching.

4. leave a few poses for next week.
fewer poses. clearer cues. time to refine. simple can keep everyone very occupied. ask my students. 😉

5. forgot your sequence? ask the room.
someone’s auditing everything you did on the other side. we appreciate her.

know what to look for, when to cue, and whether an adjustment helps. that’s powerful teaching.

I fear “wildly inconvenient” may be one of my new favorite teaching cues. 🙋🏼‍♀️

Because sometimes one tiny adjustment turns:

into

“OH. THERE it is.”

September really said: plot twist after plot twist.

Cars were towed. Plans were changed. Fall fits came out. Then Florida reminded us who she is.☀️
Taught yoga. Took yoga. Mostly to remain a functioning member of society.
At one point, visibly trembling through it. Very balanced. 🙋🏼‍♀️😅
And through all of it… laughed. A lot.

10/10 for the memories.

The yoga block gets your attention.
The hesitation gets mine.

I teach Standing Bow this way to build balance, control, courage, and trust.

Because sometimes the thing that asks you to move through your biggest fears is the thing that lets the most light in.

I recently shared this thought with someone drawn to Thavma Academy & Teacher Training but afraid to take the leap.

Different challenge. Same hesitation.

Open the front.
Create space.
Rotate with control.
Make the back body work.
Then breathe as you soften into the opposite direction.
