Have you ever wondered how someone has so many followers or how every single item in someone’s live sale gets claimed? I’d be lying if I said I don’t ever think about things like that, especially as a business owner.

Honestly, it’s not even really about the numbers. It’s about what they might mean.

What is that person doing right that I’m not? Why does she have so many more eyes on her shop? It’s a mix of curiosity and maybe a little envy that creeps in, making me want to work harder but also causing me to second-guess my decisions even more than I already do.

So it’s time to change my strategy by FOCUSING ON RELATIONSHIPS.

✨ More than gaining followers or selling the most vintage, the relationships you make along the way are what really matter. ✨

From chatting with a dealer as she restocks her booth to road tripping with (or even hopping on a plane to visit) a pal who shares a love of antiques, connecting with others is one of the most pivotal ways to grow, share knowledge and build a community of support.

Instead of feeling jealous of others, I’m getting to know them, laughing with them and learning from them, all the while celebrating their evolution and success as friends – because there’s more than enough room for all of us to thrive.

Comparison is a formidable wedge in a world where everything seems so polarizing. Taking time to grab coffee, hit up an outdoor market or stroll the aisles of a junk shop together turns attention away from the stats and shows you care about more than the fleeting stuff.

We can create an impact not just by having the most followers or customers but by showing up and being there for one another.

Memories like those are the kind of influence that lasts.

We are so grateful that we get to be with Blaine’s mom every day. Since she lived out of town we got to see her so rarely before she came to live with us. Just a couple times a year. Sometimes only once. Now we get to be part of each other’s every day life. I thank God for the opportunity to be close, not only in proximity but in our hearts.

My Mom in law has come to live with us! We have been crazily working to shuffle rooms, make preparations for her and her little pup, and make new places for our kids. They have been so wonderful! All 3 of them have volunteered to be shifted out of their rooms because they knew it would make Grandma more at home. Once everyone’s new spaces were assigned and their belongings temporarily stored, we began searching out places for all of Grandma’s precious things. This wall is graced with two platters that my Mom in law cherishes because they belonged to her grandmother. It makes my heart happy to look at this little corner of the kitchen and think of my Mom in law being served from them as a child. Generations are so much more rich when we live them together.

Happy Monday!! Here is my version of the beautiful photo from @ironstoneandpeonies. I love vintage light blue glass. It is such a soft blue.
