The books options included.

1) Haunted Ever After - Jen DeLuca

2) My Vampire Plus One - Jenna Levine

3) The Wedding Witch - Erin Sterling

4) The Village Library Demon Hunting Society - C.M. Waggoner ( sold out)

Which book would you choose? Which book do you think I went with? Also, what’s everyone reading to start this new week with? Would you recommend it?

We finished listening to the audiobook of READY PLAYER ONE by Ernest Cline ( book date with the hubby) on our drive to the Okanagan, and we both agreed that the book was 80’s nostalgia perfection. A mix between Willy Wonka and The Matrix and we were all for it. My current read is THE RETURN by Rachel Harrison ( my 2nd book by the author) and it’s definitely got my attention ( a bestie returns from the dead ). Both are perfect for October.

Five Favorites

This was a real journey to put together because… maybe I don’t know myself? I kept having to ask my husband what my favorites are 😂 really, though, I’m just fickle and my moods and preferences change with the wind sometimes.

However, even if things shift or adjust, I think all of these items would always be in my top ten in each category so I’m still being honest (I also may have gone rogue with the fifth category). These have been so fun to see and I love learning more about my bookish pals - tagging some more pals so I can see yours too if you haven’t already! 🩷🩷

💭 pick a category and tell me your top five!

Meet Kaitlyn @the.book.tasting , one of our Hushbug reps 👋🏼 🙂

“My name is Kaitlyn and I’m a teacher by day and reader by night. I’m a mom of 2 little ladies who are always on the go so relaxing with a book at the end of the day keeps me sane. I love so many different genres but Romance, thrillers and fantasy books are my favourites.”

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝟓 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬?
My last 5 star reads were the Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce and Love and Other Conspiracies by Mallory Marlowe. They are so different from each other but I loved them both!

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞?
My favourite fall beverage is a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Cliche but so delicious! 😋

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲? 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸?
If I could meet a character from a book I would choose Aelin from Throne of Glass or Carter from Consider Me. Aelin is tough, smart and a total baddie. Carter is hilarious, sweet, spicy and did I mention a professional Hockey player?! Enough said!

Do you and Kaitlyn share anything in common?

☀️🍂 July & August Wrap-Up 🍂☀️

As you’ll see, my July & August were jam packed (hence the very delayed wrap-ups)… unfortunately not with excellent books 😂

HOWEVER, there were some stand-outs, AND even a few five star reads!!

➡️ Swipe through for some July/August highlights, including more wedding photos, & some books that didn’t work for me.

Note: A couple of the DNF books I will likely try again later, I simply was too tired to enjoy a single thing other than sleeping for the last two months (and counting...)

❓QOTD: What have been your worst & best reading month so far this year?

PS. I am well aware that July & August are summer months, but the bookstagram mood is solidly fall, so enjoy the July pumpkins 😂 A picture of half of an arc of a rainbow of books on a white background, with red on the right side and orange inside of that, yellow, green, blue, and purple working inwards to the left of the picture where the arc gets cut off. The words July and August Wrap up are written in orange script in the center and are outlined in maroon. Around the edges of the photo are graphic of pumpkins on a vine and fall leaves on a string across the top.

August Wrap Up

I haven’t done one of these monthly wrap ups since April but what better time to get them going again?? August was insanely busy… I traveled to Vegas for work for five days, the day I got home we went to a wedding in Tahoe, then Monday Will went to Alaska, then the following Thursday I went to AZ for a booksta meet up! Oh, and it was our first full month as dog owners 😴😴 we had a great month but we’re pooped over here!

But some alone and travel time meant that I was able to get a lot of reading in!! I’m also not taking a class this session so I have more time for reading at home (when I’m not crafting or watching Bravo).

One second reviews:

📱 A Novel Love Story: boringgg
📱 Forged by Malice: 3rd in the series, excited for the next!
📖 A Love Like The Sun: good but a little slow
📖 The Ex Vows: truly PERFECT 😭😭
📖 How to Fake It in Hollywood: still unsure how I feel
📱 Where Happiness Begins: so sweet!!
📖 The Unraveling: quick and twisty
🎧 Love and Other Conspiracies: laugh out loud funny!
🎧 One Star Romance: it’s a no for me dawg
📖 Daydream: needed more spice and tension
📱 Not Another Love Song: I didn’t know string instruments could be so HOT

💭 what are you looking forward to in September?
