Yesterday we joined the FUZE VIP Tour of Nassau’s art hubs — Transforming Spaces — and what a beautiful way to connect with the Bahamian art community. 🌴🎨

Guided by @iamjohnedwardcox and Sandra Darville, the @tsbahamas tour moved through Nassau’s creative spaces and highlighted the vital role Transforming Spaces has played for over 20 years: preserving Bahamian culture, supporting local artists, enriching communities, promoting art education, and fostering economic growth for the visual arts in The Bahamas.

Lunch was catered by @TastetheWildCatering_Bahamas with delicious offerings like Coconut Peas and Rice, Bahamian Jerk Chicken, Grilled Salmon, Guava Duff, and more, which brought our group from all around the world together around the table in true “coming home” spirit. 🍽️

Thank you to the Transforming Spaces Committee and to sponsors @the.current.art
and @FUZEArtFair presented by #ScotiabankBahamas for creating space for collaboration, accessibility, and community, across the Caribbean and beyond. Special thanks to all of the local art hubs that made space for us:

Expanding upon The Rewilding of Aquabotanica, Parotti presents a new body of paintings exploring the lush, resilient botanical worlds that have long shaped her practice. For FUZE, these works extend beyond the frames into an immersive presentation. Artist-designed botanical compositions wrap the booth, transforming the space into an expansive landscape and inviting visitors to step inside Parotti’s imagined ecosystem. Moving between abstraction and representation, the presentation considers nature as a site of adaptation, regeneration, and continual reinvention - celebrating the extraordinary capacity of plant life to persist, reclaim, and transform.

Hearing hand go, hand come was a common place term throughout my life. The phrase became clear to me as I came to understand Asue. The rotating savings pool, where a group has a trusted person holds their money until it’s their turn to receive. The money is safer in the Asue lady’s hands than after distribution. As a child, I was baffled that people would agree to this. It felt like more than a leap of faith but as if it was protected by something higher.

In this painting, I capture the moment of payout. The rules are simple. The right hand gives and the left hand receives. Even the receiver gives. It is a simple gesture of acknowledgement and a promise to continue the cycle. Care is not charity. It is circulation

This is how i know “han go, han come

FUZE Caribbean Art Fair Kicks Off with Artist Meet & Greet at Baha Mar: The annual art fair returns, bringing together Caribbean creatives, cultural institutions and art enthusiasts for a celebration of regional talent and artistic expression.

The FUZE Caribbean Art Fair officially kicked off on October 21 with an artist meet and greet at Baha Mar, bringing together artists, cultural leaders, collectors and art enthusiasts to celebrate the opening of the regional art fair.

Held under the theme Coming Home, this year's FUZE runs from October 21 to 25 as part of The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival. The fair highlights the diversity of contemporary Caribbean art and its growing presence on the international stage.

During the opening event, John Cox, Vice President of Arts & Culture at Baha Mar, reflected on the importance of creating spaces where Bahamian and Caribbean artists are recognized as contributors to the global creative community.

"We are here. We are a valid part of the conversation. We participate and we occupy a space at the table in the global creative ecosystem," Cox shared.

He emphasized that this vision extends beyond the present, expressing his hope that FUZE will continue to serve as a platform for Caribbean creativity for generations to come.

Meanwhile, Baha Mar President Graeme Davis reflected on FUZE's continued growth and its potential to further elevate Caribbean artists on the international stage.

"We're now in 20 countries, over 120 artists," Davis shared. Looking ahead to the next five to ten years, he expressed optimism about its future, adding, "I can only imagine where FUZE will be."

The Hon. Leslia Miller-Brice, Minister of Culture, Arts & Heritage, reinforced the wider cultural significance of initiatives like FUZE.

"Art is more than something beautiful to admire. Art tells our stories. It preserves our identity. It creates opportunities and, importantly, it connects us to the world," she shared.

Stay tuned to Poinciana Magazine for more highlights, artist features and coverage from FUZE and The Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival.

For boys, aggression isn't always about aggression. It is more so one of the only socially acceptable currencies for physical contact. A shove here. A test of strength there. The body is allowed to connect because it's framed in the language of play.

In this painting, I transcribe the memory of a tenet of boyhood. The constant movement on the soil we came from, to the points of stillness gained in the moment. It's not just the internal tension, but also the point of contact.

The body moves. The fragments stay.

This is what i know to be "Dashin"
