A lovely rest stop on the most beautiful day yesterday. One of those weekends that makes you really not want to return to work 😅

This month @mountaingoatvt is raising money and awareness for the @greenmountainclub for their annual #longtrailday on Saturday, September 19th. @greenmountainclub mission is to make the Vermont mountains play a larger part in the life of the people by protecting and maintaining the Long Trail System and fostering, through education, the stewardship of Vermont’s hiking trails and mountains.

We’re encouraging anyone and everyone to get out for a hike, big or small, long or short via the Long Trail on Saturday September 19th. Please email us at mgoat@comcast.net or stop in the shop for more hike details and how to register. Registration can be found in the link in our bio as well. This joins you up with our fundraising team to virtually to support the @greenmountainclub and their fundraising goal of $80,000 for the day. GMC asks for a donation of $272 (272 miles is the distance of the Long Trail) or simply what you are able to give. Thank you.

Here’s our suggested list of ways to get on the Long Trail in the Manchester Area:
Bromley Mountain (Route 11-30 access point) ~5 miles RT
Little Rock Pond (Forest Road 10 access point) ~3.6 miles RT
Baker Peak (South End St via Rt 7) ~9 miles RT

In store we’ll be rounding up purchases and encouraging donations to the club all month long. If you’d like to make a donation right now, click the link in the bio to support The Mountain Goat’s fundraising team.

We appreciate your support for our community and the Green Mountains we call home. Happy Trails! ⛰️🌳🐐

What’s your favorite trail to spend a morning on?

Who else is excited we are approaching hiking season?! Reminder that most upper elevation trails don’t open until Memorial Day weekend, so be sure to stick to lower trails during mid season!

Continuing the story of every thru hike I’ve been on, this time with the 272 mile Long Trail in Vermont. It’s the oldest long distance hiking trail in US. I went in September 2020, when the leaves were changing colors and it was pure magic! A challenging trail full of straight up scrambling, root covered trail and boulder hopping… lots of type 2 fun. I even fell off a bridge into a rocky creek, busted my knee and somehow kept going.

So much more I couldn’t include, but if you have any questions about the Long Trail let me know! Send to your friends to convince them to go on a wild adventure 😆
