I needed a break from my cozy romcoms. I saw @the.paperback.place reading this one and grabbed it from the library this week. It’s the perfect legal thriller. I remember why I save thrillers for my girls trip..I don’t want to put them down! This one is making me think I have some mysteries solved, but also thinking what the heck is going on. Read if you love legal shows or true crime tv!

I am drinking from my favorite local coffee shop. Any time I go into town, I have to grab a drink. Today’s drink is caramel praline.

🚨 I think I found my new favorite book 🚨

Why did I wait so long to read this? The Bright Years is a multigenerational family saga about the Bright family in Texas, exploring themes of addiction, secrets, love, and loss across four generations, beginning in the 1950s. The story centers on Ryan and Lillian Bright, whose marriage is tested by hidden alcoholism and a secret son, as their daughter Georgette grows up amidst family tragedy and must later confront her past to find healing.

The writing was absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking all in one. It’s insane that this is a debut novel, and I will be reading everything Damoff writes - including her grocery lists. I can’t do this book justice, so please just trust me on this one.

Right when I thought I was done crying, I waited 10 pages and then started right back up again. I will be recommending this to everyone I meet from now until forever.

Please please please read this! PLEASEEEE.

I picked up Good People at the library after @the.paperback.place rave review! I’ve heard it reminds people of Dateline, which is one of my favorite shows/podcasts. It took me a few chapters to understand what was going on, but now I’m starting to like it.
