If you’re thinking about adding green into your home, here’s what you need to know.

There’s a reason green can feel so good to live with. We’re surrounded by it in nature, so it can bring a sense of calm, familiarity and connection to the outdoors into our homes.

And depending on the undertone, green can work almost like a neutral, making it surprisingly easy to pair with other colours.

There are rooms in a home we move through without much thought. The hallway, the entrance, the cloakroom - spaces that sit between one place and another, often overlooked in favour of the rooms where we spend the most time.
But perhaps these thresholds deserve a little more attention.
As part of The Threshold, the first act of The Slow Return, we’ve been thinking about the small rituals and considered details that mark the transition between outside and in, guest and host, everyday and occasion. The cloakroom is one such space: small, intimate and often the only room every guest will visit.
We spoke to Pandora Philipp, Founder & Editor of @the.townhouseproject , about why these overlooked spaces can be some of the most rewarding to design, and how scent, lighting, texture and the smallest details can transform the experience of coming into a home.

Light sky blue, once reserved for nurseries and dressing rooms, is suddenly appearing everywhere in interiors.

Fresh, optimistic and surprisingly sophisticated, it brings a sense of lightness and calm to a space, while working beautifully alongside warmer, richer tones. Its versatility and timeless appeal, make it a colour that feels both fresh and familiar.

Kicking off with the kitchen whilst everything is already in disarray (what’s more mess?) and getting quotes to spray and change the worktops. The current kitchen (swipe to the end) is very dark, so we are thinking a light beige cabinet and white grainy worktops to bounce some light around the room. Any suggestions on cabinet paint colour and if we should do a darker colour on the island? Also should we change to brass hardware? Already have decision fatigue and it’s day 4 :/

A month of birthdays and bank holidays, heatwaves and half terms. Of gardens waking up and a holiday that completely stole our hearts.

20 little snapshots from a month I’d quite happily do all over again.

1. @thestoreshambledon , I can’t believe how lucky we are to have you on our doorstep.
2. Taking our love of cow parsley to a whole new level.
3. Discovering the garden, one plant at a time.
4. Geraniums, in every room please.
5. Our first party at the cottage. Doesn’t she dress up well?
6. An under £50 bedside table I couldn’t resist for the annexe. We’re still plotting away on the redecoration, but for now it’s all about getting it guest ready.
7. Asparagus in the kitchen garden!
8. Five beautiful years of our favourite tradition.
9. The fact that this walk ends at a vineyard bears no correlation to how often we do it on a Friday afternoon...
10. More birthdays, more traditions that we love.
11. I love summer, but I also love how cosy this room is when the fire is lit.
12. Colour scheming with @the.townhouseproject . It’s been so helpful sharing the overwhelm and creating colour stories that flow from room to room. We’re leaning towards @farrowandball , @littlegreenepaintcompany , @neptunehomeofficial , @paintandpaperlibrary , @coatpaints and @edwardbulmerpaint . Sounds a lot, but every room is going to be spruced up, so it’s important the colours flow while each room retains its own identity.

Another fabulous Friday with an outing! I’m off w/ @naagm60 & @kuikenk for lunch @chesapeaketavern and a much anticipated visit to @longvalleypeonies This week started out rainy but the weather improved and today looks lovely. Between chats and IG stories I’ve been outside - setting up patio furniture, weeding, pruning and planting! Hoping the deer don’t mistake my Morning Glory, Honeysuckle or Mandevilla for salad! I’ll be back outside tomorrow and Sunday ticking things off our very long ToDo List. Cheers to the weekend 🥂!
