A little introduction, because somehow I’ve never properly done one on here… 👋

I’m Pandora, the person behind The Townhouse Project.

What started as a place to share interiors I love has grown into something with a much bigger purpose: to make decorating feel simpler, less overwhelming and easier to navigate.

Thank you so much to everyone who has followed along so far. It really does mean a lot ❤️ taken in London, United Kingdom by @the.townhouseproject

If this is what a real-life gingerbread house looks like, consider me inspired.

Jersey Ice Cream Co. fell in love with gingerbread detailing when designing this home, and I can see why. The scalloped woodwork, warm plaster walls, exposed beams and that incredible brick fireplace. It’s like something straight out of a storybook.

Proof that the smallest details can make the biggest impact.…

I absolutely love Delft tiles. There’s something so incredible about the little illustrations, the imperfect finishes and the stories they bring into a home.

Love how designers are using them in a variety of spaces from fireplace surround to back splashes, and even doorways.

I’ve found 4 lovely places to look if you’re considering them for your own home, plus a few things worth knowing before you buy. taken in London, United Kingdom by @the.townhouseproject

We often think about our homes in terms of how they look, but I think we underestimate how much they affect how we feel and how easily our days run.

None of these things will remove the stress from your life, but small changes to your surroundings can take away some of the unnecessary friction.

Hope this helps

If you want your kitchen to feel warm, grounding and like the true heart of your home, a wooden island is something you won’t regret.

If you needed proof, here are seven kitchens that show just how much warmth a wooden island can bring to a room ❤️ taken in London, United Kingdom by @the.townhouseproject

There’s something about a room where everything is new, pristine and perfectly matched that can make it feel a little flat.

Mixing old with new, choosing pieces with a bit of wear, adding pattern and texture, and allowing things not to perfectly match gives a room character and stops it feeling too polished.

It’s that little bit of tension that often makes a home feel more natural, relaxed and lived in.

So if a room feels like it’s missing something, perhaps it doesn’t need anything newer or more perfect. It might just need a little more character. 🤎 taken in London, United Kingdom by @the.townhouseproject

I can’t tell you how much joy I get from adding a little pattern and fun into our downstairs bathroom with @beataheuman’s Eyelash wallpaper.

I think powder rooms are one of the best places to be a little braver with your interiors. They’re small, you don’t spend hours in them, and they’re the perfect excuse to add some personality.

Here are some amazing examples of designers doing exactly that using pattern, colour and unexpected details to turn a tiny room into something really special.

If this isn’t proof that a blue living room can feel cosy and warm, I’m not sure what is. 💙

Currently working on a whole house scheme for a client & luckily she loves blue. Blue often gets dismissed as a cold colour, but I think these rooms are the perfect proof that this is not always the case.

The secret is what you put around it: warm woods, tobacco and rust tones, antique brass, natural fibres, warm neutrals, books, art and plenty of texture.

If you’re thinking about adding green into your home, here’s what you need to know.

There’s a reason green can feel so good to live with. We’re surrounded by it in nature, so it can bring a sense of calm, familiarity and connection to the outdoors into our homes.

And depending on the undertone, green can work almost like a neutral, making it surprisingly easy to pair with other colours.

If you’re wondering where to start, these are 5 shades I come back to again and again:
1. French Gray by @farrowandball - design by @artichoke_ltd
2. Studio Green by @farrowandball - design by @bryangraybill
3. Sage by @littlegreenepaintcompany - design by @louiseroehome
4. Reduced Green by @farrowandball
5. October Mist by @benjaminmoore - design by @simplee.diy

I’ve also put together 15 of my favourite greens on Substack, with ideas for what to pair with each, if you’re looking for more.💚💚💚 taken in London, United Kingdom by @the.townhouseproject
