In search of a good high row setup
Chest supported dumbbells- ok at best. Save this for low row

Bench seated cable row using @exponentedge pulldown knee pad & cable ez bar- mucho excellent! ROM is short but enough to allow scapula protraction. Keeping elbows up is easiest with this while having the ability to overload

Try it and see what you think

Trying to come up with a way to overload upper back without it being a bent over row or chest supported
Why those two parameters?
1)lower back and hamstrings are already well taxed from other hinge dominate movements
2) chest supported doesn’t for as much opening of the scapula as I want

While this variation works, I’ve already tapped out the stack and it’s heavily reliant on my feet gripping the floor
Not exactly the best scenario for power/hypertrophy

I’ll have to brain storm on a V2

Don’t discount the little victories

For a good long while any sort of fly movement was an absolute no no
After an intense session with @respawn_massage_llc (promise I didn’t cry) I decided to give it a go & was rewarded for the effort
I figure by now I’ve got roughly 1000 hours of rehab dedicated type things to get these shoulders youthful again…and we’re not done yet

Fun on the Smith machine

Incline Smith 30 degrees
2x10- Bar+90lb
8- Bar+110lb
No idea how heavy this bar is, but it’s way more than 45lb!
This Smith is non counter balanced so it’s crazy heavy

Reverse grip incline triceps press 30 degrees
3x10-12- Bar+90lb
These are rad!

Behind the neck Smith shoulder press
3x8-10- Bar+20lb
Tried facing the other way and it was not good at all and put me in a bad position
This is the make up for that

Some really good stimulus on this one

The @the.xpt Self Spotting bar can move up, down, and side to side instead of locking you into a fixed path like a Smith machine. I see the main use case being squats, bench press, and other normal barbell movements where you still want the ability to quickly lock the bar in place or keep it in place, like with isometrics.

The @the.xpt Self Spotting Bar can fit 3x3, 2x3, and 2x2 racks with at least 5/8” holes using the compatibility kit.

The @the.xpt Self Spotting Bar is one of the most unique products I’ve tried recently. The bar can move vertically and horizontally like a normal barbell, but the hand brake controls let you lock it into the rack almost immediately, opening up solo squats and presses, isometrics, and some Smith-machine-style training without a fixed path like a Smith machine.

New addition to Beasley Acres & Iron
The @the.xpt leg extension/seated hamstring curl machine

For my needs, this one checks a lot of boxes
With the nerve damage in my leg, I can only handle so many spine loaded movements before things go downhill right quick
Being able to use this in a traditional manner or unilateral while overloading is really nice

Bench press
Top sets
225lb- paused
2x3- 215lb touch & go

Tried bulldog grip on these but not sure I get along with it
I feel much more ‘active’ with a more conventional grip where I can really lock down

After a hard days paddle yesterday, this was an exceptional effort today

When I created the vision for @soleil_strength_glute_garden I knew it had to be different......

@theglutegardenmethod has worked tremendously without a hip thrust machine. My theory holds true that the most important movement for glute growth is the barbell hip thrust. Without mastering this technique you are leaving gains on the table. 🍴

But a dedicated hip thrust machine was still needed to refine technique and provide a different mechanical stimulus to the glute muscles.

It was one of the most difficult business decisions I made.😵‍💫

After breaking her in today I can confidently say it was also one of my best.🥰
