We’re still buzzing after another fabulous West Side Fest! 🩵

Whether at free printmaking and design workshops, exclusive exhibition tours and musical performances, or our fantastic wheatpasting wall by the @whitneymuseum, it was amazing to meet so many of you! We hope you had a blast.

We’ll see you next year with another slate of outstanding programming. Who knows, maybe you’ll cop the perfect poster to complete your look. 😉

Yesterday we ventured up to New Haven and with the help of @the__arm and @keeganmillscooke we brought this incredibly clean Vandercook SP-15 down from the second floor of a home studio. We needed to protect the flooring throughout the house, but the ramp worked in our favor.

From there we drove the press up to Andover, MA and dropped it off at @_doctorz_ new studio. A long day but always a fun challenge.

PS the feed board will get put on at a later point. #starkpressco #printingpress #vandercook #pressmoving #letterpress

Introducing my h@rse, built from layers of fleeting moments 🐎

I had the chance to contribute to a Risograph animation project celebrating Lunar New Year. Organized by @symlee_ and @higafox, we explored the beautiful imperfections and unique qualities of Risograph printing through a workshop led by @kellianderson.

Check out more creative horses at @thisisresidence!

What started as an idea from Sam Lee, Designer at BUCK, turned into a network-wide risograph animation celebrating Lunar New Year.

Residence invited creatives from across the network to each claim one frame of a shared horse run cycle and make it their own using risograph printing, a medium that’s equal parts printmaking and happy accident.

The workshop was led by Kelli Anderson (@kellianderson), with sessions at The Arm in Brooklyn (@the__arm) and Riso Arts Studio in LA (@risostudioarts).

We learned how to prep and print using the risograph’s unique, sometimes unpredictable qualities, and Kelli taught us her techniques and process for turning those prints into animation.

Wishing everyone good luck this year! 🐴

On a personal note, we have relocated from Austin to Central Vermont, and we love it here! This is the sunset from the studio tonight, each day magical in its own way. We have two new Vandercook Proof Presses lovingly restored by Dan Morris at The Arm in Brooklyn (an automatic/adjustable Uni III and an adjustable Uni I for letterpress friends). We have also acquired a new cabinet of woodtype, a cabinet of Baskerville, and our own platemaker.
At twenty-five years, we look forward to continuing to publish poetry, typography, and artists' books with more emphasis on handmade collaborations between artists and writers.

🌿 Alhamdulillah 🌿
Today, thanks to Allah first and then to the amazing supporters of our project ❤️🙏, we were able to distribute 60 food parcels 🍞🥫 each one enough to support a whole family for a full week 🙏🍲

These parcels were prepared with love and care 💚 to ease the suffering of our people and children who are living through such difficult times 💔 We are doing our best to bring hope and draw even a small smile on their faces 🌸

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this beautiful humanitarian effort 🤍 But the need is still great, and every donation even a small one makes a big difference 💪

📍The donation link is in the bio. Please don’t withhold hope from them 💚
