Ash first came to me to get in shape for his wedding.

That was a couple of years ago.

But getting fitter was never just the point.

Yes, we worked on the body.

But we also worked on the beliefs he’d been carrying around for years.

The story that he wasn’t a gym person.

The story that he wasn’t a morning person.

The parts of himself he’d stopped expressing.

The clothes he wanted to wear but didn’t feel comfortable wearing.

The confidence he’d put on hold.

He started by training at home.

Then his confidence grew.

Now he goes to the gym. In the morning!

Now he wears what he actually wants to wear.

Now he’s cruising around the Mediterranean feeling lean, fit, strong and confident, sending me check-ins saying:

“Can’t wait to be in trunks by a pool showing off my summer bod.”

And honestly, that line is huge.

Because the goal was never just fat loss.

The goal was becoming the kind of man who stops talking himself out of his own life.

A better body is part of that.

But the real transformation is who you become along the way.

Proud of you, Ash!

If you’re ready to work on both the body and the man looking back at you in the mirror, send me a DM.

A Morning ‘Must Have’…

Mornings ain’t perfect; they’re messy at times as we get ourselves situated with that perfect brew. Introducing the not-so-perfect, yet perfect, morning pick me up: Banana Espresso Upside Cake!

Swirls of banana-halves line the top of this delectable that’ll give you that morning jolt with a shot (or two) of espresso. Creatively, it’s banana bread meets caffeine.

Ash (@ashleygdhodge ) is the perfect example of why I love coaching gay guys in their 40s and beyond.

Because let’s be real - it’s never just about losing a bit of fat or squeezing into smaller jeans.

It’s about confidence.
It’s about finally walking into the gym without feeling like you don’t belong.
It’s about being proud of the guy staring back at you in the mirror (and on camera - go check him out at @the_bake_boss 👌).

Ash swore he’d never step foot in a gym. Now he owns the place. He’s in the gym before me and I’m an hour ahead! That transformation - inside AND out - has been one of the proudest moments of my coaching career.

👉 If you want to feel like Ash (not the one hiding under baggy T-shirts), DM me. I’m taking on new clients this September.

Peachy Keen 🍑
.
A nod to summertime and the ever-delightful thoughts of picking your own fruits or vegetables - it’s a peachy idea. But don’t labor over Labor Day weekend, just add some keen creativity and present your family with a Peach Tatin!

Impress your friends and family with individually-sized desserts. Make (or buy prepared) puff pastry, sauté those delicious peach halves in a rich sauce of honey and butter and a classic French patisserie is ready for you in no time!

*** TIP *** Use semi-hard peaches and have them soak up all that luscious goodness during sautéing to create a gooey, soft peach center. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon to enhance the flavor(a little dark rum 🍹 doesn’t hurt either!)

P.S. What do you think of the new photography 📷?

Date Night!

Ahh yes, the vibe you get when a date is just right. The memories, the tenderness you receive, and who can forget the sweetness that brings this Chocolate Date Cake together? 😊
.
The versatile date - the perfect ingredient that brings lusciousness, a complex depth of flavor, and is an excellent accompaniment to bittersweet chocolate that makes this cake a brownie-like consistency WITHOUT eggs or processed sugars. This is a true masterpiece of simple yet sophisticated baking. Your guests will think this dessert came from a French patisserie (and no passport needed).
.
.
The magic of this cake is to simmer the dates for 20 minutes, let cool, then blitz in a good processor to make a paste. Add your spices, cocoa powder, and a little bit of cake flour, bake in individual ramekins, and serve hot or cold. C’est magnifique!
.
.
.
*** TIP *** Add a hint of espresso powder to the batter…it’ll liven up the taste buds. Serve with a freshly stewed cherries, blueberries, or other fruits that you’d pair with chocolate.

It’s the Perfect Match!

Whether on Valentine’s Day 💝 or any other time of year, finding the perfect match is key to a happy life. Nothing can be more true of the Raspberry Almond Frangipane Tart.
.
This tart is a delicious combination of raspberries and almonds, each being brought together in two distinct ways. Almonds are pulverized into almond flour to enhance the base of this buttery crust, while almond flour is also used for the creamy frangipane spread on top.
.
.
And lest we forget about the raspberries, with a jam spread so evenly on the base of the tart and of course, beautifully decorating the top. A big shout out to my IG BFF “The Food Goddess” for her award-winning, absolutely scrumptious jam used as the filling in this tart. 🙏🏻Homemade is what it’s all about!
.
.
.
*** TIP *** Warm up the raspberry jam and coat your fresh raspberries in that luscious elixir and add that stunning sheen to the top of your tart!

I just wanted to take a moment to big up my client Ash who continues to grow and make incredible progress, not just physically but in terms of confidence and smashing limiting beliefs!

By looking for solutions rather than excuses, your positive mindset is inspiring!

“Let’s go smash 2025”

Awesome stuff!
