Words fail. 🤍

A week ago I finished the most life changing show I have ever been a part of. I will truly never be able to fully express how much this entire experience meant to me.

I still remember where I was when my mom first showed me the music to this incredible show. From then on, I was hooked. I performed songs and monologues from this show in high school and dreamed of one day playing Evan.

Something that really helped prepare me for this role was going through an extremely dark and low point in my life a few years back. During that time I felt like I couldn’t communicate with anyone and was desperate for connection. As hard as that was, I wouldn’t trade it for anything because it brought me closer to God and gave me empathy for those who feel completely alone. I don’t think I could have gone up on stage and pretended to know what that feels like, so I’m grateful for that experience.

My hope with this show was that people would leave with one of two things. First, if you watched this show and felt alone, I hope you left feeling seen. Feeling valued. Feeling loved. Because you are. And for those who have found healing, I hope they remember that not everyone has. I love the quote by Henry Eyring: “When you meet someone, treat them as if they were in serious trouble, and you will be right more than half the time.”. There are people around us who need connection. They need to be found.

I have so many people to thank for this incredible experience so swipe over so see those. But for now, thank you Evan Hansen for helping me heal, letting me hope, and getting me to step into the sun.

I am so grateful for all of you! Thank you for bringing so much light into this show. Thank you for how much each of you cared about this story. Thank you for giving it your all. And thank you each for being such incredible friends. I’m so honored to have shared the stage with every one of you and I will always have a special place in my heart for you all. I love you guys!!

And special shout out to @cmatern f

When I'm approaching the end of an experience, I tend to get really nostalgic about the beginning. This show took me completely by surprise this summer/fall, and I'm so so grateful that I was given the chance to live in this story with these incredible humans (and one gd dinosaur).

I approached this show with a lot of fear, and I'm leaving it - not quite YET, but soon - with so much love instead, for the show and these people. And that is the BEST way to be proven wrong. 🩵

Also this one time Benj Pasek liked my post yayyyyy

Dear Evan Hansen has been the most impactful show I have ever been a part of. I have so many people to thank for this remarkable experience including my cast, my production team, @centerpointtheatre , my family, my friends, my wife, and God.

One of my favorite messages that I get from the show is the fact that just having someone there can make your worst day into a perfect one. In “For Forever” Evan sings about possibly the lowest moment of his life but adds Connor to the story and suddenly realizes that “everything’s okay”.

If we have someone to connect with, it makes everything okay. If we have someone who listens, if we have someone who cares, if we have someone who reaches out, if we have someone who sees us, it makes everything okay.

So please be that person. That person who cares, who sees, who listens, who loves. It may not take a lot from you to make all the difference in someone else’s life.

You are always loved and you are never alone.

Also, thank you @micah_shot_that for capturing such a precious experience for me.
