The best thing I learned from my grandmother is the incredible difference a positive attitude can make in what you’re going through.
Carolyn, my amazing Nana, always had the most beautiful smile on her face. Even during my last conversation with her, we were able to laugh and joke the same way we could before. I’m 100% sure I even got one more sarcastic eye roll from her.
Her love of music will always stick out to me. And I love to know she gets to play the piano again with a clear mind and fingers that can press the right keys exactly how she wants. As long as she remembers to “have two songs memorized. Just in case someone asks you to play another after the first” she will be just fine.
It’s been close to 10 years of getting to tell Nana my same stories over and over. But I’ll never forget how excited she got every time I got to tell her I’d be performing at the theater by her house. The way she’d light up knowing I’d be on the stage she’d watched dozens of productions on before is a joy I’ll hold so tight for as long as I get to remember.
By the time she forgot who I was, I had gotten to spend more time with her than I deserved. And although she didn’t remember our talks, I sure hope I always will.
I love Nana more than these words can express. But I’ll take each memory I have and hold it as tight as she’d hold me.

7 years ago (yesterday) I got to experience life changing theater in New York when my family saw Dear Evan Hansen. This show is so incredible important to me for so many reasons and I’m so excited I get to help tell this story at Centerpoint this fall!

I’ll be in the Monday, Wednesday, Friday ensemble.

It’s Sophie’s birthday, which means it’s my favorite day of the year.
Sophie is my biggest support, my favorite performer, my favorite theater date, my rock, and my best friend.
There’s nobody I’d rather wear on a shirt. And I wear that shirt a lot.
