I get asked this so often, how did you, @cmill31 and your whole family become so successful?? I tell them it was simple, we had parents who were hands on and present. They guided us to play multiple sports and made sure the girls played with the boys and the boys played against the girls. Baseball, basketball, football, corkball, track & field you name it, we all played it together. We weren’t good in every sport but it forced us to use our brain and skill set differently in each sport.. So yesterday I had my girls playing defense on my MiniMe to get him ready for his flag football championship game today, but also my AngelFace had her last track meet of the season and it was the Varsity track meet, which meant the best of the best was invited and she was participating in two events, the high jump and long jump. She got 2nd in the high jump and 9th in the long jump. So being present and hands on is what my parents did, even if my QB skills suck, having my daughter guard my son helped her the next day in her track meet, and him being guarded by his sister helped him win the championship with those catches.. #MixAndMatchSports

Resiliência: a história do negro no ciclismo rumo ao @letourdefrance

Pedalar nunca foi apenas sobre esporte.

No fim do século XIX, quando a bicicleta simbolizava liberdade e modernidade, Kittie Knox já enfrentava barreiras raciais ao competir e integrar a League of American Wheelmen, em 1893. Em plena era de segregação, sua presença era resistência.

Décadas depois, em 1984, Nelson Vails acelerou para a história ao conquistar a medalha de prata nos @jogosolimpicos de Los Angeles. Tornou-se o primeiro negro americano a subir ao pódio olímpico no ciclismo — um marco simbólico em um esporte historicamente pouco diverso.

Nos anos 2000, o protagonismo ganhou nova forma com os irmãos @juswilliamz e @just7upnup Cory Williams. Criados no cenário competitivo da Califórnia, eles não apenas venceram corridas, como mudaram a estética e a cultura do ciclismo de critério nos Estados Unidos.
A criação da equipe @l39ion.la of Los Angeles consolidou um movimento que uniu performance, identidade e representatividade.

A nova geração ampliou ainda mais esse espaço.
@ayesuppose tornou-se a primeira ciclista negra americana profissional de estrada.
@eliotjackson , destaque no mountain bike, transformou sua trajetória em ativismo ao fundar a @growcyclingfoundation .
Coletivos como o @the_blackfoxes reforçam a retomada de narrativas no universo outdoor global.

O capítulo mais emblemático dessa trajetória recente veio em 2024, quando @biniam_girmaye_hailu_ da Eritreia, venceu etapas do Tour de France. Pela primeira vez, um ciclista negro africano conquistava uma vitória na maior corrida do mundo.

Não foi um acaso.
Foi resultado de mais de um século de resistência, talento e reconstrução de espaço.

Do enfrentamento à segregação às vitórias no Tour, o ciclismo negro não é uma tendência passageira — é parte essencial da história do esporte.

E essa história segue sendo escrita, pedal a pedal.

First ski of the season ended up being on rental skis rated for 165+ lbs because of a binding malfunction. Being 200+ lbs made the equipment feel very meh, but the experience itself was so good for me overall.

I saw the group Melanin in Motion ($10 ski lessons) out on the trails and got to ski with this absolute mental powerhouse. She’s creating balance in a world where it’s deeply needed — taking time to fortify her systems within while expressing her own narrative through movement. She was out there getting after it, coachable, committed, and very new to the sport.

She showed up on skate skis and told me classic skiing was boring — she wanted to skate. I got to share my knowledge of the sport, and that made me feel really good. It reminded me how natural it feels to step into the role of a coach. Everything started to slow down again in the best way.

If you put in the time, the distance will grow.

Snow sports. Movement. Motion.
So good for the brain. Such a powerful way to challenge the system.

I’ve tried cycling as an adult. It’s high key harder than it looks. It ain’t the same kind of bike riding I remember as a kid. 🙃 I looooove seeing us outside, cycling. Whether on the road or in the mountains, I think about how good it is for our bodies, our hearts as much as our mind for being outside getting fresh oxygen.

When was the last time you went for a bike ride??
