POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A little late to the party, but here’s my TIFF51 post! I didn’t forget about it, I promise!

For those who know me, TIFF is basically Christmas to me haha. It’s easily my favourite time of the year, and this year was no exception!

Unfortunately, I only managed to see 12 films this year (which is honestly pretty LOW by my standards haha), but this was easily my most productive TIFF yet!

With the launch of the TIFF Market, I had the most meetings I’ve ever had in my filmmaking career. Between pitching projects, catching up with familiar faces, and meeting so many new people, it was a pretty crazy 10 days!

I think this was also the first time I genuinely felt like I was attending TIFF more as a filmmaker than a cinephile, which is a pretty surreal feeling considering I’ve been coming to this festival for years just to watch as many movies as humanly possible haha.

Of course, I’ll always be a cinephile at heart, but it’s pretty exciting to see how much things have changed and how far I’ve come!

Also, apologies for the slightly scrappy and all-over-the-place photo dump this year haha. I was so caught up in everything that I honestly wasn’t the best at taking photos, but here’s what I managed to piece together!

Huge thank you to everyone I got to meet and reconnect with this year! Already counting down the days until TIFF52! ❤️

Canadian stories, shows, films, and actors are taking over the world!

Last week in Ottawa, I met with the Motion Picture Association–Canada and the Canadian Media Producers Association and joined their “Behind the Scenes” reception.

We discussed keeping productions and jobs in Canada, supporting Canadian filmmakers and producers, and ensuring funding and policy keep pace with the changing industry.

🌿 "Forever Connected" is Indiescreen's in memoriam for Tracey Friesen — managing president of the @the_cmpa's BC branch and founder of @storymoneyimpact — who passed away in January 2025. The NMA:B2B jury noted a cohesive visual language throughout, with iconography, photography, and custom illustration curated to mirror the tone and themes of the piece, blending into something they described as truly memorable.

There are stories I’m here to tell, and I’m making the connections to bring them to life.

A little heartbreak here, a little green light there… but perseverance builds character, and character builds hope. For there was a time even my mind and knees would betray my ability to stand… there, but for the grace of God, go I.

Day 1 at the Durban Film Mart was a calm storm of energy, beautiful spaces, and running into brilliant creatives like @sambiffot Samantha Biffot who produced Ben’Imana with director, @dusabejambo Marie Clémentine Dusabejambo; such a brilliantly made movie. 😮‍💨 💐💕

Btw, when you’re an independent film producer on the rise, stepping onto that red carpet in a stunning African two-piece does a lot of heavy lifting and I’m glad I brought a sliver of Lagos to Durban, from Toronto. 🥰🥰

Sometimes the industry feels crazy, and it feels like what you chose hasn’t chosen you back. But what matters is knowing that the One who chose you first is sorting out your expected end.

Thank you to @impact.aptcmi IMPACT and tenacious @mizzkaine Samantha Kaine for supporting my trip to Durban Film Mart. 🙏💕

S/O to the @the_cmpa CMPA and the High Commission of Canada Trade Office 🙌

S/O to 🎥 @simbacreative 😎😝

To more possibilities! 🥂

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”

🎬Our biggest event yet! A massive THANK YOU to everyone who made our QEPC Industry Panel & Mixer such an incredible evening! 🍸

With almost 200 industry professionals in attendance, this was our largest event to date, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. Our community is growing, and it’s a powerful reminder of just how important it is to create spaces where Quebec’s English-language audiovisual industry can connect, collaborate, and thrive. OLMC voices, stories, and talent matter, and together, we’re making sure they’re seen, heard, and supported.

A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors and partners: the @the_cmpa @actramtl and @inso_solutions_technologiques for helping bring this event to life, and a special shoutout to our GOLD SPONSOR, @nomadlife.tv, and their exceptional team (Jason, Kevin, Carlos, Patrice, Leia) for hosting us with such warmth and care. We felt so welcomed and well taken care of all evening!

A heartfelt thank you to ACTRA Montreal’s Anna Sikorski, Bouchra Rabeh, and @teneishac for their support, organizing the panel, and all their special touches, and to our fantastic panelists:
@tdlalla @mariahinger @markcamacho2222
@thatduynguyen, and Jonathan Bédard, for sharing their insights, experiences, and perspectives with our community.

And, of course, none of this would be possible without the people behind the scenes. A massive thank you to our QEPC dream team, @debra.kouri @h2lprod @chris_ms_priss and Philip Kalin-Hajdu, and our incredible volunteers Meghan, Vanya, Anna, Elly, Mario, Laura, and Joëlle. Your time, energy, and dedication make these events possible, and we appreciate you more than you know! ❤️

The energy in the room reminded us why we do what we do. Every new connection, collaboration, and conversation helps strengthen Quebec’s English-language production community. We’re proud to advocate for our members, champion OLMC creators, and build a more connected and vibrant industry together.

Special thanks to our awesome photog

Menopause touches millions of people, and the screen rarely tells that story honestly. This fall, we're joining our partners across BC's screen industry to change that. Stay tuned.

You believed in the dream. You helped make it happen.

iSAFF 2026: DREAMSCAPES was possible because of the generosity and belief of our sponsors, funders and supporters. Every screening, conversation and celebration was made possible by a community that understands the importance of giving South Asian stories a place to shine.

Our heartfelt thanks to:
✨ Platinum Sponsor: RBC
✨ Cultural Grant Support: City of Surrey
✨ Red Carpet Experience: Brian Jessel BMW
✨ Gold Sponsors: Telefilm Canada, Canada Media Fund, Creative BC, Aadmi Group, Tether at King George Hub, Prism and Skye Avenue Kitchen & Lounge
✨ Silver Sponsors: Canadian Media Producers Association, National Bank and Discover Surrey
✨ Public Supporters: Government of Canada, Province of British Columbia, Tourism Destination Events Program, Metro Vancouver and BC Arts Council

To each of you: your contribution mattered. You helped bring filmmakers and audiences together, make room for new voices and celebrate stories that deserve to be seen and heard.

We hope you share in the pride of what we created together. In every moment of discovery, every conversation sparked and every connection made, your support was felt.

From all of us at iSAFF, thank you for believing in our vision and helping bring DREAMSCAPES to life. This celebration belongs to you, too. 🤍
