I’ve always believed a child’s bedroom can feel like an extension of the rest of your home while still feeling completely like them. My four tips:

1. Mix old + new. A few antique or vintage pieces mixed with newer finds instantly make a room feel more collected and interesting.
2. Make the bed or crib a statement. It’s usually the biggest piece of furniture in the room, so why not make it the most beautiful?
3. Add something unexpected. A DIY hot air balloon, an outdoor lion statue brought inside, an antique rocking horse… something unique, playful and a little unexpected that sets the room apart.
4. Invest in a really good rug. It grounds the entire space and can completely change how a room feels. I love 100% wool because it’s beautiful, durable and truly heirloom quality.

This rug is from @the_essential_store , one of my favorite sources for beautiful, quality pieces without the traditional retail markup!

Kids’ rooms don’t have to feel disconnected from the rest of your house. They can be collected, beautiful, full of personality and, most importantly, still really fun!

nyc bachelorette pad update!! a cute green marble side table from @the_essential_store 🧚 recommitting to spending the time to turn my solo studio apartment into a home that feels so completely me.

reminding myself that if waking up in our spaces is the foundation of every day, perhaps it deserves the same intention we already put into work & others 🫶

many more updates to come (there’s still so much to do!)
