Buy Furniture From The Factory
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Earlier this year I set out to completely redo my apartment and this loveseat, The Fireside, from @the_essential_store has become an important part of the space.

And now part of a new home series where I feature items that have left a deep impression on me and inspire me to create.

I’ve always believed a child’s bedroom can feel like an extension of the rest of your home while still feeling completely like them. My four tips:

1. Mix old + new. A few antique or vintage pieces mixed with newer finds instantly make a room feel more collected and interesting.
2. Make the bed or crib a statement. It’s usually the biggest piece of furniture in the room, so why not make it the most beautiful?
3. Add something unexpected. A DIY hot air balloon, an outdoor lion statue brought inside, an antique rocking horse… something unique, playful and a little unexpected that sets the room apart.
4. Invest in a really good rug. It grounds the entire space and can completely change how a room feels. I love 100% wool because it’s beautiful, durable and truly heirloom quality.

This rug is from @the_essential_store , one of my favorite sources for beautiful, quality pieces without the traditional retail markup!

Kids’ rooms don’t have to feel disconnected from the rest of your house. They can be collected, beautiful, full of personality and, most importantly, still really fun! by @the_essential_store

I love finding pieces that look like they belong in designer homes without paying designer prices… and I think I found one of my favorite websites @the_essential_store for exactly that.

The coolest part isn’t just one product. It’s that they work directly with the factories, so you’re skipping a lot of the traditional retail markup and getting beautiful, high quality pieces for so much less.

I’ve been slowly adding some of my favorites, and the 100% wool rug in Lincoln’s room has been one of the best additions we’ve made. It’s soft, timeless, and has held up so well with real life, which around here means kids, toys, and everything in between. 🤍

If you’ve been furnishing a home, renovating, or just love finding beautiful pieces for less, this is definitely a site worth browsing. They have everything from rugs to furniture, lighting, décor, and so much more.

Let me know which piece is your favorite because I already have a running wishlist going… and you know one of those marble tables is 100% on it! 😉 by @the_essential_store

The furniture industry has a vocabulary problem.

Most people hear “authentic” and subconsciously think better quality, craftsmanship, materials—or the designer’s original vision.

But “authentic” simply answers: who currently owns the legal right to manufacture this design?

Put simply: look at the label.

Everything else requires separate conversation (and there are plenty on how those characteristics have changed or declined over the years).

So if authenticity only tells you who owns the design today, what does it mean to honor the people who originally created it? taken in Los Angeles, California by @the_essential_store

You don’t deserve good design—according to the furniture industry if you can’t afford their $1,000 plywood stool.

But many of the designers we celebrate today weren’t trying to create luxury products. They were trying to make good design accessible to ordinary people.

As Charles and Ray Eames summarized this mid-century modern, democratic design philosophy:

“The best, for the most, for the least.”

Today, conversations around iconic furniture often revolve around exclusivity, authenticity, and status. But I think there’s a more interesting question underneath all of it:

Who deserves good design?

This series isn’t about telling you what to buy—it’s about questioning the assumptions we’ve inherited about design, ownership, authenticity, and who gets to experience it.

I’d love to hear your thoughts before part 2 of this series, Dirty Secrets of the Furniture Industry. taken in Los Angeles, California by @the_essential_store

newest additions to the house are these bent plywood stools from @the_essential_store (inspired by the butterfly stool by Sori Yanagi). first used them at the dining table because I love mixing different wood tones there, but also loving them in the living room since they can function as a magazine stand, footstool, or side table too ✨ taken in California by @the_essential_store

Inspired by shopping carts, Niels Gammelgaard designed the IKEA Enetri Shelf (originally called GUIDE) in the 80s for function and accessibility.

At the time, it retailed for €65—but now you’ll see resellers listing it for $1K+.

Brands like @the_essential_store are honoring the design legacy by bringing it back to what it was always meant to be: accessible. taken in Los Angeles, California by @the_essential_store

Just keep on watching the cuteness of this bookshelf just gets cuter....

Had been looking for one for the right side of my foyer for what it feels like forever, I usually wont make a commitment when it comes to peices untill its truly THE ONE! Im one who takes time to fill up my home, I dont like to clutter just for nothing everything has a purpose a function and a memory attached to it. Which makes me feel right at home.

This bookshelf just seemed right I wanted something a little industrial so it can break some of the softness around and it fits just right.
