October + IBJJF🍁🥋✈️🩺

Another tournament, more flights, little to no sleep, ridiculous travel stories, blood stoppages, and apparently I’ve finally earned walkie-talkie privileges😏🎙️😂

I truly feel so blessed to live this crazy life and call it work. Sports have taken me places I never imagined and introduced me to some incredible people along the way.

As a woman in sports, I’m especially grateful to work alongside and learn from some amazing women and men in this industry. Every event brings new experiences, challenges, friendships, and opportunities to grow. I can genuinely see how much these experiences continue to shape me as a clinician and the care I provide my athletes.

Forever thankful for the people, the opportunities, and all the chaos in between. Wouldn’t trade it for anything! 🖤

Another year of IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Con + World Masters in the books! 🥋🩺

This weekend has become one I look forward to every year—not only because I get to work matside as part of the medical team⛑️, but because I get a front-row seat to a sport and community that has become such a big part of my life.

There’s always something special about looking across the mats and seeing my teammates and athletes I work with competing. Working these events continues to give me an even greater appreciation for what these athletes put their bodies through. It also reinforces why being prepared matters—not just during competition, but in all the work that happens before athletes ever step onto the mat.

Another year➡️
1.serving the jiu-jitsu community
2.supporting my people
3.helping keep athletes safe while they do what they love✨💪🏾🫡

Also I want to give a huge thank you to @dr.kreiswirth of @blackbeltsportsmedicine1 for allowing me to be apart of this amazing team!🚑⚕️

Until next year🤙🏾🥋🖤

What a weekend in Las Vegas. 🏆

We couldn’t be more proud of everyone who stepped onto the mats this past weekend at the 2026 IBJJF World Master Championship and Jiu-Jitsu Con Kids Gi & No-Gi Championships.

These aren’t small local tournaments. World Master brought together nearly 3,000 competitors from more than 1,200 academies, while Jiu-Jitsu Con brought thousands of athletes, coaches, families, and members of the Jiu-Jitsu community from around the world to Las Vegas.

And our people stepped onto those mats. ❤️

🥇 ELISABETH — WORLD CHAMPION

Elisabeth captured gold at the IBJJF World Master Championship in Master 3, earning the title of World Champion.

Elisabeth cross-trains with us at Yōsai, and we have had the privilege of watching the work she puts in every time she steps onto the mats. Following her World Championship victory, she was promoted from purple belt to brown belt.

An incredible accomplishment and a very well-earned promotion. Congratulations, Elisabeth! 🌎🏆

❤️ CHELSEA

Chelsea will always hold a special place in the Yōsai family.

She was one of our students who also cross-trained with our sister school, Fayetteville Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and we’ve been fortunate to be a part of her journey as she continued to push herself at the highest levels of the sport.

Chelsea took on something very few competitors ever do: competing in all four IBJJF Grand Slam events — Europeans, Pans, Brasileiros, and Worlds.

Along the way, she became an IBJJF Pan Champion, earning gold at the 2026 Pan Championship as a brown belt. 🥇🏆

But beyond the medals and tournaments, we’re proud of the person and teammate we’ve gotten to know.

We’ll always support Chelsea and cheer her on wherever her life and Jiu-Jitsu journey take her.

We’re proud of you, Chelsea. Keep chasing your dreams.

🥇🥇 ELIJAH — GI & NO-GI DOUBLE GOLD

At only 6 years old, and one of the youngest competitors in his age group, Elijah had an unbelievable weekend.

He competed at Jiu-Jitsu Con Kids No-Gi and took GOLD.

Then he came back and did it again in the Gi.

Two tournaments. Two gold medals. Gi & No-Gi Champion.

Doing that on one of the biggest stages in Jiu-Jitsu at six years old

Slow pulls tend to be very polarizing. People seem to either love them or hate them - or love to hate them. Especially messy slow pulls, where adding a manual jolt to the camera obliterates what very little clarity might've remained around moving subjects.
I have always been obsessed with them though. Here are some of my favorites from Day 1 and Day 2.

Day 1 photos from IBJJF Masters Worlds are already up! Apparently insomnia does have its benefits 😂

If you see someone you know, tag them and share this so they can find their photos!

Make sure you scroll ALL the way through the gallery. I bounced between several matches happening at the same time, so your second (or third!) match may be much farther down than your first.

❤️ Heart the photos you like! It makes them easy to find again if you decide you want to purchase them later.

And make sure you follow me so you know which events I’ll be at next, especially the ones where I’m not competing and can focus entirely on dedicated coverage.

Hi! I’m Dr. Chelsea K. Martinez (@the_rolling_physio), a brown belt at Fayetteville Jiu Jitsu and Yosai GFTeam Arkansas. My world revolves around the mats, whether I’m competing or providing care.

By day, I’m a Pediatric Physical Therapist specializing in dyspraxia and AAC users. On the weekends, I’m living out my dream as an Athletic Trainer with Black Belt Sports Medicine, covering IBJJF events. Being mat-side to provide healthcare for this community has been my goal since I started training in college.

The Competitor Side 🥇

The 2025-26 season has been an incredible journey. I’m currently ranked #2 IBJJF Female Master 2 Brown Belt (Gi) with a few recent milestones:

🏆 IBJJF & AGF American National Champion
🥇 IBJJF Pan American Champion
🥈 IBJJF Europeans
🥉 Brasileiros

Why I Do It ❤️

I know the sacrifices—physical, emotional, and financial—that go into stepping onto that mat. When things go wrong and injuries happen, I consider it a true privilege to support my fellow competitors through those tough moments.

I’m so grateful to serve this community with @blackbeltsportsmedicine1 and the IBJJF. Follow along for more adventures! 🤙
