Snippets from last Sunday’s Apartment Café ā˜•ļøšŸµšŸ„ÆšŸ‡øšŸ‡Ŗ

What an absolute blast! šŸ¤Ž

The Apartment Café is a relatively new concept, and we knew it might take time to pick up. So, rather than focus on numbers, we wanted to focus on the quality of the turnout. My aim has always been to bring people from different walks of life together, because that’s where the most interesting conversations happen. Less talk shop, more getting to know the person. Just the way I like it.

A BIG, BIG, BIG thank you to every single guest who made Sunday what it was. Most of you were people I’d never met before, and it was such a joy to see strangers come together so naturally. Thank you for bringing so much warmth and curiosity. I hope you had as lovely a Sunday as I did! ā¤ļø

šŸµ @eatmelicious Pim, for jumping on board without hesitation and bringing all that positivity. You’ve truly elevated my matcha experience. Now, everywhere else has some serious whisk-takes to make! šŸ˜‚ From the apple cinnamon latte and apple mocktail to matcha in Earl Grey, those homemade syrups were exceptional. You’re a wizard!

ā˜•ļø @food_rhapsodies Praveen, you coffee maverick! I love how you come alive the moment those beans land in your palms. There’s something about coffee that lights you up, and it showed in every drink you made. Watching our guests completely mesmerised was such a joy. Your gadgets and gears deserve a museum of their own.

I love going to cafés, I love hosting, and I love being home. So, why not bring the party home? And that’s exactly what happened.

I’ve already received so many DMs asking when the next one is. Yes, the Apartment Café will return! But for now, I want to soak it all in and enjoy these memories.

I’d love to welcome fun, curious people from different walks of life to future gatherings. Would you genuinely love to be part of the next Apartment Café in Stockholm? Tell me in the comments or drop me a DM. ā˜•ļøšŸ¤Ž

There’s a strange kind of loneliness that comes with moving abroad in your 30s.

It’s not that you have nobody.
It’s that nobody knows you.

Back home, people knew your history. Your school, your jobs, who you loved, what you ate, what made you laugh, what hurt you. The stupid things you did. The person you were before you became who you are now.

Then you arrive somewhere new and suddenly…

You’re just YOU.

No context.
No history.
No social shorthand.

And I never realised how much of our identity is built through other people’s memories of us.

So you start again.
You introduce yourself again. Tell your stories again. Make friends who never knew the old you.

And strangely, it’s both lonely and freeing.

Because nobody here knows who you were supposed to be.

They only know who you are now.

Maybe that’s the gift of starting over.

Now tell me šŸ’¬ : If you’ve ever started over somewhere new, what’s one thing you miss being known for?

It’s the little things of everyday life that have slowly helped me improve my relationship with myself.

In India, life often felt like a constant hustle. A rush. Too many things happening simultaneously, too much stimulation, too much dopamine, and very little time to simply pause and reflect.

Moving to Sweden taught me a different rhythm.

There is movement and momentum here too, but there is also more quiet. More stillness. More pauses. And somewhere in those pauses, I found time to look within.

I started creating small rituals of my own to get me through the good days and the bad ones. A cup of coffee. A walk. Cooking something slowly. Sitting with my thoughts. Doing nothing without feeling guilty about it.

Nothing extraordinary. Just small, ordinary moments that began to feel meaningful.

I learnt that there is magic in the mundane.

And perhaps moving away from home didn’t just teach me how to live somewhere new. It taught me how to be with myself.

Now let’s chat šŸ’¬: So tell me, what did moving away from home teach you that you could never have learnt by staying?
