Hi, My name is Tanushree Ishani Das and I am the TID of @the_tidtable
I moved to Stockholm in 2024, and being in my mid-30s, I’ve realised there are many people like me who enjoy socialising, but not just for the sake of it. I’m drawn to meaningful connections, conversations that linger, and gatherings that feel warm and real. Being an immigrant, I love the opportunities & growth Sweden is offering but the bittersweet is that I miss my family, friends, my food and this supper club helps me celebrate them everyday. Indian food is so much more than tikka masala and naan and though they’re lovely, I want to bring more rustic, grandparents approved food for you.

If you’re someone who prefers cosy corners over crowded clubs, real talk over small talk, and soul food over fancy bites, you’ll feel right at home. My aim to start this supper club is to bring people together over hand-me-down recipes, heritage flavours, and stories worth sharing. Feeding people is my family’s love language, and food for me isn’t just about taste, it’s about legacy, memory, and connection. And yesss the spices are all brought from India :)

Most gatherings will be hosted by me at my home in Vällingby (Stockholm), where you’ll not only enjoy a lovingly curated meal, but also a little walk-through of the menu, the story behind each dish, the ingredients, and the culture woven into every plate.

In time, I’ll also be hosting pop-ups in different parts of Stockholm, sometimes collaborating with creative spaces, cultural hubs, or even restaurants. So if you happen to have a venue or run a cultural, creative, or restaurant space and would like to collaborate, I’d love to hear from you.

Whether you’ve just relocated, are passing through, or have been here a while, this space is for you. Bring your culture, your curiosity, and a big appetite for conversations. It doesn’t matter if we meet again or become best friends, the beauty is in sharing this moment.

Let’s build this supper club together šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ’«

Bit of a ramble, but here we go… Hi everyone I’m Tanushree Ishani Das, the TID of @the_tidtable

Dropping a video soon where I chat about how this whole supper club idea came to life, the spark, the story, all that jazz. But before that, I thought I’d post a little get to know me snap. You know, the sort of odd bits that make me ā€˜me’.

Now for the wildly random part (brace yourself):

I LOVE November Rain by Guns N’ Roses. Pink Floyd? Anytime, anywhere, even while stuck in traffic, concentrating on something, sleeping, showering, brushing my teeth or ……
I absolutely loathe amusement parks and roller coasters (why would anyone willingly fling themselves around at 100km/h?). Mountains over beaches, always.

If I could have any superpower, it’d be the ability to devour desserts endlessly without becoming diabetic or even slightly pudgy. Just imagine.

I’m a proud pet mum, my furry baby is called Leia 🄰
massages and spas = self care, and my dream life? Oh, that’s easy: Twelve-hour sleeps, desserts for breakfast, books, music, telly, long walks with Leia, and living in a cosy little home in the middle of nowhere - surrounded by forests and maybe a peaceful lake (minus crocodiles, alligators and any snake longer than my arm, thanks).

Mosquitoes? Crawly things? No thank you. Also, escalators are mildly terrifying because I’ve got vertigo and an overactive imagination.

Anyway, more ramblings coming your way soon.
Tell me a bit about you and what brought you here. Let’s have a proper chinwag.

šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ’« @the_tidtable

Nobody really talks about this part of moving abroad in your 30s.

The loneliness isn’t always about having nobody.

It’s having people you love in another country.
It’s having 200 people on your phone but nobody you can casually call and say, ā€œI’m outside. Come down.ā€
It’s realising that making friends as an adult takes intention in a way it never seemed to before.

Moving abroad teaches you that friendship is no longer just about proximity.

You have to initiate.
Invite.
Show up.
Go to the thing where you know absolutely nobody.
Have the awkward first coffee.
Then another one.
And slowly, very slowly, strangers become familiar faces.
Familiar faces become friends.
And one day, you realise you have people here too.

Maybe that’s what building a new life abroad really looks like.

Not finding your people overnight.
Just showing up long enough for them to find you too. šŸ¤

šŸ’¬ time: If you’re living abroad, moving countries, or starting over somewhere new, what’s been the hardest part for you?

Tell me in the comments. And send this to someone who is building a new life far from home.

Meet Praveen. ā˜•ļø @food_rhapsodies

Of course, I am not going to embarrass myself, and more importantly, him, by writing a proper introduction.

But most of us have come to the conclusion that his middle name is probably Coffee. And honestly, if we ever find out that it actually is, none of us will be surprised. šŸ˜€

The internet knows Praveen for his coffee, his Tiramisu, his food content and his ridiculously good pours. And that is exactly why I follow him too.
Well there are other reasons too that I’ve shared on this poster šŸ¤“
But what the internet doesn’t know is that off social media, this man is hilarious.

Some of the jokes he has cracked are genuinely epic. Very dark. Incredibly funny.

We shall, for reputational reasons, let most of those remain offline. šŸ˜‚

He is also permanently up for an adventure, always shows up for his buddies and is basically the person you want around when you have absolutely no idea what the plan is.

So imagine this:

An Oscar winning actor, voluntarily (also with a lot of ’you have to help me here’!) coming down to perform a very important role in his kid’s school play.

Except the school play is The Apartment Café. And Pim @eatmelicious and I are his buddies not kids šŸ˜‚

And the role?

Making you one ridiculously good pour-over.

Praveen is joining us at The Apartment Café on 18th October, and you get to experience the coffee, the pours and, if you’re lucky, perhaps a completely hilarious joke or two. For selfies we charge šŸ˜‚ (JK)

šŸ“ Farsta Strand • Full address shared after booking.
šŸ“… 18 October 2026
ā° 13:00 onwards

Ticket link already on bio. DM to know more.

So… are you ready?

Because Praveen is. And so are Pim and I.

See you at The Apartment Café. ā˜•ļø

Sometimes I say I miss home.

But if I’m being completely honest…
I don’t always miss the place.
I miss the version of myself that existed there.

I miss knowing exactly where to go for my favourite coffee.
Calling a friend and saying, ā€œI’m outside. Come down.ā€
Dropping by without making plans three weeks ahead.
Knowing which shop had the good bread.
Which friend would pick up at midnight when my nerves were frayed.

I miss being understood without having to explain myself.

And I think that’s what makes moving abroad in your 30s different.

You’re not just leaving a country.
You’re leaving an entire ecosystem of familiarity.

But slowly, you build a new one.

A favourite café.
A person you can call.
Someone who knows your dog.
A restaurant that recognises you.
A table full of people who were strangers a few months ago.

You don’t stop missing home.

You just stop needing the old version of home to feel okay.

šŸ’¬ time: If you’ve moved countries, what’s the one little thing you miss most? Tell me. I have a feeling we’ll relate. šŸ¤

@eatmelicious taking over the matcha counter and whisking up some deliciously creamy matcha beverages. This is going to be a matcha made in heaven. šŸµ

That’s not all, a beautiful pour-over coffee by a coffee superstar awaits… but we’re keeping the suspense alive for now!

Moved countries.
Shut down a 10-year-old business.
Started over from the scratch.

5 things I learnt the hard way in my 30s that made difficult seasons a little easier.

1. Being strong doesn’t mean being unaffected.
2. A bad day is not necessarily a bad life.
3. I don’t have to constantly fix myself.
4. When life feels overwhelming, I stop trying to solve my entire life.
5. Not to ABANDON myself.

I’ve learnt that getting through difficult seasons isn’t always about being stronger.

Sometimes it’s about being gentler with myself.

Because life will change.
Plans will fall apart.
I will outgrow things.
But I will begin again.

But through all of it, I don’t want to become another person I have to recover from.

Happy October guys šŸ¤

Officially in the last quarter of this year. We’ve got this šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ«‚

Now šŸ’¬ time: What are some lessons you’ve learnt the hard way that makes going through your lows little easier? Share with me. I’d love to hear from you šŸ«¶šŸ»

Irrespective of the above, I’m glad to be sharing this journey virtually with you guys šŸ«‚
