When I told my mum I wanted to start advocating for people living with sickle cell disease, she was worried.
She said, "No, don't start. You will just expose yourself."
Then she added, "Wait until you have money."

But I couldn't wait.

I had lived with sickle cell disease. I knew the pain, the hospital visits, the uncertainty. If my story could help even one person, I believed it was worth telling.
A few days later, my mum came back to me with tears in her eyes.

She said, "Now I understand. You're trying to deliver people from pain."

Those words have stayed with me ever since.
That is the vision behind the Aghogho Sickle Cell Care Foundation—not just raising awareness, but helping prevent future pain through education.

Today, I'm inviting you to become part of that vision.
This World Sickle Cell Awareness Campaign, we're raising ₦1.5 million to place our Sickle Cell Awareness Comic Book into the hands of 1,000 secondary school students.

For ₦1,500, you can sponsor one student to learn:
What sickle cell disease is.

Why genotype testing matters.

How informed choices can help prevent sickle cell disease.
How to show empathy for people living with the condition.
When you sponsor a student, you're doing more than buying a comic book.

You're helping a young person make informed decisions that could shape their future and the future of generations to come.

If this vision resonates with you, I'd be honoured to have you join us.

Together, let's deliver people from pain—one student, one comic book, one informed future at a time.

Campaign: 21 July – 31 August 2026
Goal: 1,000 Students | ₦1,500,000

No one builds an impactful project alone.

When you're planning your first social impact project, one of the biggest questions is: "How do I get people to help?"

The truth is, people don't join a project simply because it's a good cause. They join because they understand the vision and know how they can contribute.

If you're looking for volunteers:

✅ Communicate your vision clearly.

✅ Be specific about the roles you need people to fill.

✅ Let people know the time commitment and expectations.

✅ Don't rely on just one person—life happens, so always have backup support.

And most importantly, appreciate those who show up.

Remember, volunteers are giving you one of their most valuable resources—their time.

Value it. Respect it. Thank them.

This is Episode 8 of my Impact Blueprint Series, where I share practical lessons to help first-time changemakers design and implement impactful social projects.

💬 What's one quality you think every volunteer should have, or if you've led volunteers before, what's one lesson you've learned?

If you don't document your work, it becomes difficult to prove your impact.

One of the best habits you can develop as a changemaker is keeping good records.

Don't just implement your project—document it.

Keep:
📸 Photos
🎥 Videos
📝 Attendance records
📊 Monitoring and evaluation data
📄 Reports
💬 Testimonials and feedback

These records help you tell your story, measure your impact, write stronger reports, apply for grants, and build credibility with partners and donors.

Remember, what isn't documented is difficult to demonstrate.

This is Episode 7 of my Impact Blueprint Series, where I share practical lessons to help first-time changemakers design and implement impactful social projects.

💬 What's one way you currently document your projects?

One of the biggest lessons I've learned in social impact is this: your project will not go exactly as planned.

No matter how much time you spend planning, unexpected challenges will happen.

A partner may pull out.

Funding may be delayed.

Your timeline may change.

Volunteers may become unavailable.

The goal isn't to create a perfect plan. It's to create a plan that can adapt.

As a project leader, always ask yourself:

"If this doesn't go as expected, what's my backup plan?"

Risk management isn't about expecting the worst. It's about being prepared to respond when challenges arise.

The best project leaders aren't those who avoid problems—they're the ones who adapt to them.

This is Episode 6 of my Impact Blueprint Series, where I share practical lessons to help first-time changemakers design and implement impactful social projects.

💬 Have you ever had a project that didn't go according to plan? What did you learn from it?
