A feeling of nostalgia, seeing our work stand tall once again, after so many years, beneath the night sky in Duqm, Oman.

Bathed in the light of the full moon, the sculptures reveal another character altogether. Their silhouettes become sharper against the quiet night, while light and shadow trace their forms in ways the day cannot. With every moonrise, the sculptures seem to find a new life—standing timelessly beneath the ever-changing night sky.

We’re delighted to receive these images directly from Oman, thanks to @pradeepnair1505 for sharing this straight from Duqm, Oman and bringing back memories of the hands, vision, and journey that brought these sculptures to life.

A big thank you to Baroda for showing up for our Visual Literacy for All Research Lab & Open Studio. 💛

We were honestly overwhelmed by the response, so much so that we ended up extending the exhibition for another week! 🥹
More than the numbers, it was the conversations, questions, feedback, and thoughtful notes you shared with us that we’re carrying forward.

We’ve gone back to the drawing board questioning, and rethinking, with a simple hope: to get 1% better every day.

Because building a more conscious, accessible visual learning culture in an increasingly digital world is a long journey. And we’re just getting started. 🌱

Thank you for being part of the beginning. ❤️

A welcoming expression of nature, art, and tradition.

Created by Kanan – The Art Space as a commissioned work for a private residence, this Corten steel installation at the entrance draws inspiration from Gond Art. Organic forms and intricate patterns come together to depict elements of nature, bringing a sense of movement and character to the space.

A contemporary interpretation of Gond Art, bringing nature’s rhythm into everyday’s life.

Our Research Lab (aka Art Party!!) brought together 50+ participants over two days to pause, look closer, question what we see, and think about how we see it. 👀✨

Through zine-making, conversations, experimentation, and time spent with our first exhibition, "What I See From Where I Stand," we explored visual literacy as something that can be playful, and deeply reflective.

Students from NISV, Nalanda International School, Anand Vidya Vihar School, Gujarat Public School, and JD Institute, Vadodara joined us in this shared space of making and thinking. It was messy, playful, thoughtful, and full of ideas- exactly what we hoped the Research Lab could be. 🥳

Big love to all the students, teachers, principals, parents and my program partners - @aligned.lab and @kanantheartspace in making this happen and tagging along for the journey 🤗♥️ we have just started!

Here’s to making "seeing" a little more curious, creative, and collective act. 💛

What happens when, in a world of selfies, we use the self-portrait to express ourselves and understand where we come from? 🤔

Visual Literacy for All presents its first exhibition, "What I See From Where I Stand" — a body of work from our Ladakh Chapter, created in collaboration with @regenerative.nomads and 14 children from the indigenous Changpa community of Ladakh.

Through self-portraits, photography and playful ways of seeing, the children explore questions of identity, culture, place and belonging.

Come experience what they chose to see and what they chose to say.

✨ 4–5 September | 11 AM–7 PM
📍 Kanan the Art Space / The Useum Gallery, Vadodara

But wait.. There’s more! 👀✨

As part of our Research Lab, we’re bringing students from schools and colleges across Vadodara into the process through a series of fun, hands-on visual storytelling workshops. 🎨📸

And the best part? What they create will become part of the exhibition too! 💫

So come see the show and see the world through their eyes. 💛

It has been six months of blood, sweat, tears, sleepless nights, an absurd amount of studying, unlearning, overthinking, questioning everything, and then questioning the questioning.

But we are here now and it all feels surreal 😋🌈 ✨

"What I See From Where I Stand" will be on display on 4th and 5th September at @kanantheartspace @the_useum_ ♥️

See you soon!

My creative practice has always been rooted in collaboration.
As a director, I was used to bringing people together, creating a space for their skills, and helping each person find and bring out their unique creative voice within a project. But stepping into teaching has made me rethink what collaboration really means.

When you work with young adults, collaboration also means letting go of control. Letting go of the idea that you know where something is headed. Making space for unexpected ideas, detours, questions and possibilities you couldn’t have planned for.
And honestly, it’s a constant negotiation with my director-producer brain, which still wants everyone to be on time, follow the plan and please, can we just stick to the schedule? 😅

But I’m learning that sometimes the most meaningful things happen when the plan shifts.

Teaching has become an unexpected evolution of my creative identity—a process of unlearning, listening and learning to trust the collective process a little more.

After 7 years of working as a filmmaker and photographer across India, I found myself asking: what do images allow us to see, question and understand?

In a world that is becoming increasingly visual, we are no longer merely consumers of images, we are constantly creating, sharing and circulating them. But how often do we pause to critically engage with what we see? That question became the seed for Visual Literacy for All.

This summer, I piloted the project with @regenerative.nomads in Changthang, Ladakh, using play-based workshops to explore identity, self-representation, memory and landscape with young participants from the Changpa community. The resulting project, What I See From Where I Stand, will now be on display at @kanantheartspace @the_useum_

Alongside the exhibition, I’ll be hosting a Research Lab and Open Studio, sharing the processes, questions and experiments behind the project.

📍 Kanan The Art Space, Vadodara
🗓 Research Lab: 2–3 September
🗓 Open Studio: 4–5 September

Come see the work, play, question and discover what you see from where you stand. ✨

Some art catches your eye.
Some art stays with you.

And sometimes, there’s a piece that feels strangely familiar — as though it belongs in your space before you’ve even decided where to place it.

Every artwork carries its own language: the details, the colours, the craftsmanship, the story behind it.

The question isn’t only, “Do I like it?”
It’s, “Can I imagine living with it?”
