Over the summer I had the pleasure of making a few new friends in Catania who were passionate about the arts. We decided we’d like to shoot something together to experiment and test out what it would be like to work together creatively. Within a week we’d agreed on an idea, gathered together a crew, found a location and shot the film you can see the stills of here. I also had my friend Aaron from Canada visiting us, so we had to find a role for him just for fun.

Filmmaking is a wild ride and I truly believe one should never abandon the love of making films for the sake of making films. Although this film is quite tonally different from what I plan to shoot for my feature film, what it did give me was the confidence to go out and shoot something here in Sicily. That is something very valuable because often making movies or doing anything creative can be 50% collaboration and 50% bravery to try something.

The bar and the strange man.
