You don’t have to compare your experience to someone else’s to decide whether it was “bad enough.”

If you said no, if you didn’t want to participate, if your body remembers discomfort, fear, pressure, or violation, you are allowed to honor that experience. You don’t need the perfect label before you can begin healing.

Your experience matters. Your body matters.💜 And you deserve a relationship with sex that includes safety, choice, desire, and pleasure.

Save this for the moments when you start questioning your own experience, and share it with someone who may need to hear it.

I haven’t even watched it yet, but I’m officially on Double Lives of Suburban Wives!

It’s pretty surreal seeing my work as a sex therapist make its way onto TLC. I’m excited (and maybe a tiny bit nervous 😅) to finally watch the episode myself.

If you caught it last night, tell me what you thought! And if you missed it, you can check out Double Lives of Suburban Wives on TLC/Discovery.

Here’s to opening more bedroom doors… apparently now on national television. 😉🚪❤️

I've never done anything like a reality show. It was both terrifying and awesome!

September 4 is World Sexual Health Day.

The slides are about one body in front of one mirror. Here’s the part that didn’t fit on a slide.

The 2026 theme from the World Association for Sexual Health - Every Body - isn’t only about making peace with your own reflection.

Whether a body gets to experience sexual health,
rights and pleasure is rarely decided by the body itself.

It’s decided by what schools are allowed to teach,
which services get funded, what the law protects
and what it punishes, and who can talk about any
of it in public without paying for it.

That’s also why the campaign runs all September,
not for a single day.

What’s one thing about bodies or sexuality that nobody
ever explained to you, and you had to work out alone?

If any of those slides is about you, you don’t have to sort it out on your own.
I offer online sessions: psychological and sex coaching.

Sex coaching starts with a free 20-minute intro call. I work with adults only.

Better late than never.
A little nostalgic throwback post about this year’s AASECT conference in PR where I had the honor to do a poster presentation about perinatal sexuality (in my native language 🙌🏼), learn a ton, and meet wonderful people. 🫶🏼💕

Low libido isn’t always about sex.

Stress, exhaustion, hormones, pain, medications, body image, trauma, relationship dynamics, and plain old mental overload can all affect how easy, or hard, it is to access desire.

And when sex starts to feel like pressure, one more thing on the to-do list, or something you’re supposed to want, desire can get even harder to find.

Instead of only asking, “Why don’t I want sex?” try asking, “What might be getting in the way of desire right now?”

If this feels familiar, sex therapy can help you get curious about what’s happening without shame or pressure. 💜 Visit the link in bio to learn more.

Want to make sex feel more exciting? Try taking sex off the table.

I loved talking with @cindyscharkey on her Permission for Pleasure podcast about pleasure, desire, sexual agency, and what can happen when we take some of the pressure out of sex. 💜 Thank you, Cindy, for such a fun and important conversation.

One of my favorite homework assignments for couples is to make intercourse and certain kinds of touch completely off-limits for a little while, then go back to making out like you did when kissing alone felt incredibly exciting.

When every touch doesn’t have to lead somewhere, you can slow down, build anticipation, play, and pay attention to what you actually want. Sometimes an artificial “no” creates space for a much more expansive “yes.”

Your Monday reminder: better sex doesn’t always start with doing more. Sometimes it starts with slowing down enough to actually notice what feels good.

Give yourself time to shift gears. Breathe. Focus on one sensation. Stay curious about what your body is responding to. And take orgasm off the agenda.

You don’t need to try all five at once. Pick one and bring a little more attention, and a little less pressure, into the experience this week.

Save this for the next time you need a reminder to slow things down.

Some awards mean more because of who gives them to you. ❤️

AASECT has felt like a professional home to me since I attended one of my first conferences early in my career. As a sex therapist, I’m usually the only “me” in the room—but when I’m surrounded by this community, I’m with people who understand the work, the weirdness, the bravery, and why these conversations matter.

So having the Open Bedroom Doors Show named AASECT’s 2026 Podcast of the Year means more than I can say.

Thank you, AASECT, for the award—but even more, thank you for giving this sex therapist a place to belong. ❤️

Real talk for real relationships. And apparently, award-winning real talk now. 😉🏆 Watch the show here.... youtube.com/@openbedroomdoors

Your body is not a pop quiz you were supposed to pass by 30.

What turned you on five years ago might not be what turns you on now. Stress, hormones, relationships, and life experience can all shape what feels good, and as you change, your sexuality can change with you.

That means you should keep learning yourself instead of assuming you should already have all the answers.

Try this: Instead of asking, “Why don’t I want what I used to?” ask, “What feels good to me right now?” Notice what creates curiosity, comfort, pleasure, or even just a little spark without making orgasm the goal.

If you’re feeling disconnected from your body or your desire, sex therapy can help you explore what feels good now without shame or pressure. 💜 Visit the link in bio to learn more.

Sometimes what your relationship is missing isn’t more effort in the bedroom, it’s a little more newness.

When everything starts to feel familiar and predictable, try creating more anticipation: plan a date for each other, get ready separately, surprise your partner with something small, or simply do something differently than you usually would.

You don’t have to overhaul your sex life. A little mystery can go a long way, especially when the emotional safety is already there.

I loved talking about this with Jessica on the @midlifeadvicepodcast. 💜 If this gave you a new way to think about desire in long-term relationships, save it for later or send it to someone who might need the reminder.
