⭐ MEET THE ARTISTS: Robert Weiss & Dawn Williams ⭐ Robert Weiss (@robweissart) is a Pittsburgh born, Maplewood, NJ–based artist working primarily with mixed media on wood, surfaces are built up, reworked, and occasionally carved out with a Dremel. His work occupies a space between high and low visual culture- classical drawing and painting methods have absorbed and reflect the energy of comics books, punk rock, street art, comedy, etc… “Lost and Found, and Lost Again”, a 2-person exhibition (with Jake Guttormsson) was on view for three months at the Herb and Milly Iris Gallery in South Orange, NJ. In March 2026, he was a part of OBEY AND RESIST, a Shepard Fairey art event at BEEPLE Studios in Charleston, SC, where he displayed three new pieces and won first place in the live drawing art battle. He also enjoys printmaking and animation, and has worked as an animator/motion graphics designer for over twenty years for companies that include Rolling Stone, WebMD, and Guggenheim Productions. ------- For Dawn Williams (@dawnlwilliamsart) her feet firmly planted on the ground, walking through the city or woods, is what centers her.. The path provides views of the world that are filtered into her mixed media pieces. Color, fiber, found objects, they all matter. This is her journey. ------- 📍The Loft at SOPAC (Saturday Only) 1 SOPAC Way, South Orange Village, NJ 07079 #MaplewoodNJ #SouthOrangeNJ #NJArts #NJArtists #SupportLocalArtists

⭐ MEET THE ARTISTS: Judith Kramer & Ann Niles ⭐ Judith Kramer has been painting since childhood then went on to minor in art in college but took a 50-year hiatus to pursue a legal career which is continuing. Several years ago the Township of Maplewood created art classes for seniors in oils, acrylics and water color. She has taken them all. Right now she is taking a class in water color. She’s grateful to the Township of Maplewood for offering this program for seniors as it has brought her an enormous amount of joy. Judith does not have a particular painting style although some people say they can identify her work. She gets her inspiration for her paintings from life, from photos that she and others have taken. She is very prolific and the themes of her paintings are very eclectic. Please stop by to see her paintings, she hopes you will find them interesting. ------- Ann Niles (@wingedwoman.art) is both an artist and a psychologist - and, for her, the two practices are inextricably linked. She studied art and design in college and, after working in interior design and web design in New York and San Francisco for many years, decided to become a clinical psychologist to have more of an impact working with people. She says she brings both analytical and creative skills to her clinical work and her artistic practice and that the two feed one another. In her psychology practice she processes stories of struggle every day and feels her art is an antidote to the intensity of her work - one that she says creates a space to renew her energy, express her emotions, and be in the present. Ann grew up in Little Silver, New Jersey and has since lived in New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Niles has resided with her family in South Orange, New Jersey since 2008. Awaiting her dual citizenship in Italy, Ann dreams of her sunlit studio in Tuscany! ------- 📍The Loft at SOPAC (Saturday Only) 1 SOPAC Way, South Orange Village, NJ 07079 #MaplewoodNJ #SouthOrangeNJ #NJArts #NJArtists #SupportLocalArtists

📍 Able Baker ☕️ Iced Maple Latte I've been thinking about this latte since I got it last time, so naturally I had to take a different way to work to get it! While not overly sweet, there is a perfect taste of maple in here. The store itself is so open and bright, and the people who are working are just the kindest!!! Not pictured is my little pink box of biscuits inspired by Ted Lasso's biscuits with the boss 😋

⭐ MEET THE ARTISTS: Shara Bailey & Sue B Pottery ⭐ Shara Bailey (@sharabaileyfineart) is a representational artist with a lifelong fascination with the way light can transform mundane objects into things of beauty. Although she grew up in a Philadelphia suburb, she has long been drawn to the big skies and dramatic landscapes of the American West - a passion that took her to Arizona, where she spent ten years earning a PhD in anthropology. Today she is based on the East Coast, where she is a professor at New York University. City living has forced her to look for beauty in unexpected places. One evening, while commuting, she noticed the sunset reflected in the glass of a building across the river. That fleeting moment reminded her that beauty is everywhere if we’re willing to look. Since then, she’s sought to capture the magical in the mundane, guided by the belief that sometimes all it takes is a pair of rose-colored glasses. Whether painting urban skylines or rural landscapes, she is drawn to scenes where light transforms space into something evocative, timeless, and quietly profound. ------- Sue B of Sue B Pottery (@sue_b_pottery) is a potter who has lived in Maplewood for more than 30 years and whose work is focused on usability and curb appeal. She took up pottery in November of 2016 to calm her nerves and raise money for area non profits. She says it is a joy to focus on something beautiful and useful while supporting worthy causes. Her work focuses on how a piece feels in your hands and how it integrates into your home. It’s art you can touch. People who have purchased her work tell her that they have decorated rooms around a set of espresso cups or a large bowl that they especially love. 100% of her sales go to non-profit organizations including the MEND Hunger Relief Network and the ACLU. ------- 📍The Parlor at the Woodland 60 Woodland Rd, Maplewood, NJ 07040 #MaplewoodNJ #SouthOrangeNJ #NJArts #NJArtists #SupportLocalArtists

Barbara Schneider (@barbaraschneiderart) has been drawing and painting her whole life, but only started painting in earnest since retiring in 2022. She is largely self-taught and enjoys painting the beauty she sees around her: nature, people, still life, landscapes, and recently tried her hand at portraiture. Barbara is sometimes inspired by surroundings when she is traveling on vacation and likes to experiment with new and different techniques. ------- In her younger days Deb Stamm was always sketching. She took art classes in college and graduated from the University with an Art Minor. During her years as a working Mom, her painting occurred periodically. She worked in watercolor or acrylics. She started painting more often after painting Curious George in her grandson’s nursery. She also did Christmas tree bulbs and some of his favorite game characters. Deb was awarded three Honorable Mentions for acrylic painting by the Union County Senior Art Exhibit. She belongs to a group of artists meeting two days a week to create art and talk. The social nature and insight from the group is important to developing her paintings. ------- 📍The Loft at SOPAC (Saturday Only) 1 SOPAC Way, South Orange Village, NJ 07079 #NJArts #NJArtists #SupportLocalArtists #SOMA #MAPSO

⭐ MEET THE ARTISTS: Monica Mangan & Lisa Orloff ⭐ Monica Mangan (@monicamanganart) is a self taught mixed media artist. Her work is an exploration of the intricate interplay between color, form, and narrative, representing the essence of everyday life through her own vivid lens. The hope is to celebrate the mundane and the extraordinary, where each piece tells a unique story, infused with personal and collective experiences. Her pieces draw inspiration from her connections with music, nature, travel and the human form. Using a mixed media approach and in the spirit of experimental play and spontaneity, Monica incorporates collage elements with acrylics to juxtapose textures and patterns, emphasizing the interconnectedness of our experiences. The use of found materials serves to ground her pieces in the tangible to foster joyful emotional connections. In her process, she seeks to find and reveal the extraordinary in the ordinary and to embrace the vibrant tapestry of life. ------- Following her brain surgery 17 years ago, Lisa Orloff (@lisasartforjustice) learned with apprehension, followed by joy, about neuroplasticity, the remarkable ability for a brain to reorganize its structure rerouting neural pathways. Simply put, her synapses were firing away over a different path creating a new her! Art brings her joy and diffuses the frustration of working within our criminal (in) justice system while working with federally incarcerated clients. Lisa starts by squeezing acrylic paint to a canvas from the tube and shaping it with palette knives for movement and texture. After it dries, she traces the ridges with an acrylic pen, then creates her own path beyond the original to mimic neuroplasticity. After the tragic loss of her best friend’s son during the spring, the season of renewal, she began painting abstract daffodils, bursting forth in unexpected spots, popping up bright and tall like Sam. ------- 📍Maplewood Senior Center 106 Burnet Ave, Maplewood, NJ 07040 #NJArts #NJArtists #SupportLocalArtists #SOMA #MAPSO

The Pierro Gallery at The Baird Community Center is proud to present Judy Targan: A Life in Art, a major retrospective celebrating the extraordinary eight-decade career of South Orange artist Judy Targan. The exhibition will serve as the Pierro Gallery’s featured exhibition during this year’s SOMA Studio Tour, an especially meaningful distinction as Targan was one of the founders of the beloved community tradition. Spanning work from the 1940s through the present day, the exhibition traces Targan’s artistic evolution from her early drawings and paintings created as a student at New York City’s progressive Walden School through her children’s room murals, limited-edition relief prints, inkless intaglio works, and her current Landscapes/Landshapes oil paintings on wood. 📍Pierro Gallery at the Baird Community Center (5 Mead St, South Orange Village, NJ 07079)
