🏃‍♀️🔥 CHICAGO MARATHON 2026: FAST TIMES & BROADCAST FAILS 🎙️

The streets of Chicago were HOT, the elite performances were even hotter, and the broadcast? Well… we’ve got some thoughts. 👀

Ashley and Remin are back with a fresh, unfiltered recap of the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and we’re breaking down ALL of it.

🏅 Galen Rupp proving age is just a number with a Masters American Record.

🔥 Emma Grace Hurley’s incredible marathon debut.

⏱️ Clayton Young running like an absolute metronome, plus the bold moves and big performances from the American men.

🥵 How heat, humidity, and race-day strategy changed everything.

📺 And NBC… we love a World Marathon Major, but can we PLEASE get some better race coverage? We’ve got suggestions. You’re welcome.

Plus, we’re talking super shoes, treadmill training, fueling strategies, and what Chicago means for the road to the LA 2028 Olympic Trials.

Whether you crushed your PR, blew up at mile 18, or spent your morning screaming at the TV like we did, this one’s for you.

🎧 Listen to Is It Just Us? on Spotify and Apple Podcasts!

💬 Your turn: What was the biggest story out of Chicago? And did the broadcast drive you as crazy as it drove us?

Running Hot Takes & Hard Truths with Justin Kaufmann 🎙️

This week on Is It Just Us?, we sit down with running coach, ultrarunner and creator Justin Kaufmann, aka @morningkaufy, for a very unfiltered conversation about what endurance athletes are getting right, what we’re getting wrong, and what actually matters when you want to get faster.

We get into Zone 2 training, high mileage, AI running plans, recovery, under-fueling, injury prevention, strength training, social media fitness culture, peptides, endurance influencers, and why sometimes skipping a workout is the smartest training decision you can make.

Justin also opens up about his personal journey with addiction, sobriety and how ultrarunning became part of rebuilding his life.

If you’re a runner, marathoner, ultrarunner, endurance athlete or just someone who loves a good training hot take, this one is for you.

We’re joined this week by freelance journalist, runner, coach, and all-around storyteller Emilia Benton 🏃🏽‍♀️✨

We’re talking about the career she never expected to have, from magazine internships to writing about running and fitness for a living, plus the marathon journey that eventually led to her BQ.

Of course, we also get into the important stuff: New York vs. Boston, running culture in Denver, Houston and NYC, the rise of the runfluencer, why trail running might just be glorified hiking, super shoes, paywalls, pacing, and whether Remin was a hamster in a past life.

Basically, it feels less like an interview and more like catching up with a friend who happens to have a LOT of good running stories.

These may be the cutest local markets in the Twin Cities 🥹💟

On Sunday I went to the @locallovemarkets at @honourcoffeempls! I got a much needed Tarot card reading from the @_midwesterncryptid_ with @theadventuremouse 🪄

Then we popped over to the Girls Day Out market at @jennyinthecitystp which was so fun and I got the cutest skeleton earrings!

A much needed sunday out & about 🥰

New episode, same amount of chaos. 🏃‍♀️🐿️

This week we’re talking backyard ultras and the absolute insanity of running the same loop every hour until only one person is left standing, Jakob being VERY back, ultra running beef, another doping scandal, and why the consequences of cheating reach way beyond the athlete who gets caught.

Plus: Garmin slander, training updates, comeback struggles, white squirrel omens, and the important question of the week…

Why risk the biscuit?

Day 14 of 30 Strength Tips for Runners 🏃‍♂️💨

Today: Single-Leg Slider Tuck Switches

Running requires your body to manage high-velocity transitions while maintaining a rigid, stable core. This drill forces you to move your limbs rapidly while keeping your pelvis locked in place.

Why it’s a game-changer:

✅ Dynamic Core Stability: Forces your abs and obliques to maintain a perfect plank position while your legs are moving at high speed.

✅ Reciprocal Hip Drive: Trains the rapid, alternating hip flexion needed for quick leg turnover and stride efficiency.

✅ Anti-Rotation: Challenges your entire torso to resist shifting or sagging as you switch legs under load.

WE’RE BACK. 🎙️ Season 2 of Is It Just Us? is officially here, and somehow we had even more to catch up on than expected.

In Episode 1, we’re talking Josh Kerr’s historic mile world record, the future of middle-distance racing, Grandma’s Marathon’s 50th anniversary, Ashley’s Lake Como honeymoon, Love Island’s surprising track-and-field connections, and Remin’s first USA Pentathlon training camp and national championship.

There’s fencing. There’s laser shooting. There’s a three-and-a-half-hour rain delay. There’s an at-home blood test that goes completely off the rails. And, as always, there is absolutely no media training.

New Season, Same Us: Josh Kerr’s World Record, Pentathlon Boot Camp & Bloodwork Chaos is live now wherever you listen to podcasts. 🎧

7 months and 17 pounds ago.
We’d gone rock climbing for @jack.rakes birthday and had pie in a brewery that only let us eat pie because it was his birthday.
I didn’t post this because I thought I looked chubby even though it is our LAST photo with the whole Minnesota fam (minus Aubrey). I should have posted it.
Love and miss you guys 🧡
