A few snaps from 2016… it’s funny how as much as life changes, so much stays the same. 2016 was a pivotal year on many levels and it’s been a joy scrolling down memory lane and reminiscing.
•
In 2025 I found myself doubting my decisions in both work and decisions around the house build, but what I have realised is that my values have remained the same …just refined.
Let’s see what the next 10 years hold!

P.S Thank you sunscreen 🧴

My favourite part of work!

I spent the day blending a second batch of bespoke signature scent for a client as well as R&D for some upcoming projects I am involved in.

I have a notebook full of ideas and blend combinations and about 20 different sample bottles that I will be assessing over the next few weeks .

Part of creating “functional scents” is the science behind each essential oil used combined with the art of putting it all together to make an end product. that not only smells amazing but evokes strong emotion within you while supporting you emotionally and physically as well.

I really enjoy that part of my work ❤️
I would even say it’s my favourite
I wish I had more time and money to do this non-stop! 😂

We can never get enough of banquette seating. For this custom look, @bestkind.design paired wood veneer with sleek black upholstery and complementary tables and chairs for a finished that's polished and modern without feeling overly formal.

As discussed in our "Exploring Frequency Rebalancing of Spaces" episode - art is an energetic feeling. A great way to enhance the energetic frequency of your space is by displaying artwork that deeply resonates.
.
There's many ways to display artwork. Here are a few inspiration images with tags to get your wheels turning!

In last week’s podcast episode we discussed how to design lighting to facilitate optimal health and wellbeing. A crucial component for well designed lighting is to have daylight or an artificial equivalent (5000 kelvin or higher, blue short wave length light) in all spaces you occupy during the day. This will ensure your circadian system is working optimally and you have an enhanced mood, alertness, productivity, etc.
.
.
These inspiration images (tagged architects & designers) showcase spaces that are nicely lit for daylight exposure. Remember you need to be looking out windows to benefit 😉🤗 These spaces show different window types and placements to bring more sunshine into your days ☀️❤️ Get creative with your windows ❤️

How do you design for the ears in a work environment?

For this conference room we did the following:
- Acoustic walls (to deck, insulated, etc)
- Acoustic ceiling tiles (high NRC rating)
- Absorptive surfaces (floor, some walls & furniture)
- Mindful door handware

Check out our latest Podcast episode - Heal Through Sound, Designing for the Ears with Julian Treasure (link in bio) to learn more about designing spaces for sound (including work environments).

Best Kind podcast guest speaker 🎙
The influence of scent on the spaces we dwell in

I had the privilege of appearing on the inaugural episode of the Best Kind Podcast hosted by Sonya Randell, the creative mind behind Best Kind Design.

Join us as we explore our complex relationship with the spaces we dwell in. From the true meaning of aromatherapy to the profound connection between nature and wellbeing, we dive deep into fascinating topics about scent and its different benefits and tips on incorporating it into your daily life and surroundings.

“Best kind” is a phrase from Newfoundland, Canada, used to describe something exceptional or extraordinary. It signifies the highest quality or the epitome of excellence in a particular context.

I love how Sonya’s approach to interior architecture and design goes beyond just making things look nice; it’s about creating spaces that make you feel good inside. Her new podcast explores how design intersects with psychology, biology, physics, and ancient wisdom traditions. She’ll talk to experts to learn more about how our surroundings can influence our wellbeing in many ways.

As a result of having multiple patterns within a consistent color way, @bestkind.design created an organic & layered language to these geometric panels.
