Something I decided early on with MILSPO Social Co. Magazine is that everyone featured deserves to feel important. That is why regardless of involvement, your face gets on some prime real estate. To empower women, we have to empower them to see themselves as main character energy. So excited for issue 3 to launch! 80+ PEOPLE. 🤯💜

When we dreamed up our first Manhattan Moms Storytime in the Park, we truly had no idea what to expect.

And then more than 80 of you showed up. 🥹

Kids spread out on blankets. Moms connected. Coffee was poured. Books were read. And our little corner of City Park was filled with families.

This absolutely would not have been possible without @thebackyardbookshelf saying hey let’s do this and then getting @bahlmco_coffee_bar to join us and then @fragrantblendscandlebar for jumping into this idea with us and helping make it happen.

We also loved having @deployedloveorg of Fort Riley (sorry won’t let me tag the local group!), @momsclubmhk and @k_andrist there to support our families and be part of the morning. 💜

But maybe our favorite part?

Since the event, 44 moms have already told us they want another one.

FORTY-FOUR. 😂

So… message received, Manhattan.

We’re doing it again. Soon but TBD! 🙌

We’re already starting to dream up what the next Manhattan Moms community event could look like, and after seeing so many of you come out for this one, we have a feeling this is only the beginning.

Thank you for showing up, bringing your kiddos and helping us build something really special right here in Manhattan. 💜

Now the only question is… what should we do next?! 👇👇

On Wednesdays, we wear pink and empower women of all ages! 💕

What a sweet morning at Storytime in the Park! Eighty people joined us, and I loved sharing free copies of “Becoming Confident” with little readers. The book is now available through The Backyard Bookshelf mobile bookstore, too! 📚🌳

As I signed books for little girls, I thought about the little girl I once was - looking to the women around her for the courage to chase her dreams. To me, serving as Miss Heart of Kansas Volunteer means showing up for moments like these: supporting women and helping children of every ability know they belong. There is room for all of us to shine. ✨

Thank you to Manhattan Moms, The Backyard Bookshelf, Bahlm Co Coffee Bar., and Fragrant Blends Candle Bar for bringing our community together!

If you’re bored in Manhattan this week, we’re going to have to assume you’re actively trying. 😂

Because apparently Manhattan looked at September 21–25 and said, “Let’s schedule EVERYTHING.”

Homeschool open gyms. Storytimes. Art classes. Preschool activities. Zoo Late Night. Go Truck Go. K-State Soccer. School’s-out activities. And even Brew at the Zoo for the grown-ups who would very much like an activity that does not involve packing snacks for someone else. 🙋‍♀️

AND we have one of our own! 💛

Join Manhattan Moms + The Backyard Bookshelf for Storytime in the Park at City Park! Come hang out with us, listen to a story, let the kids play and meet some other local families. We’d love to see you there!

And somehow… this still isn’t everything happening around town this week.

We rounded up some of the best family activities, homeschool happenings and community events happening Monday through Friday so you don’t have to hunt them all down yourself.

Save this one. Send it to your mom group. And tag the friend who is always asking, “What should we do with the kids this week?”

Because the answer is officially: a lot. 😂

📍 Manhattan, Kansas
📅 September 21–25

As always, schedules can change, so double-check with the organization before heading out.
