I can be responsible after all and make schedules! I am traveling the first part of September but will be back half way through. Did you know we can pop up on Fort Riley with an invitation? Let me know if you and your friends want first dibs on some of our new merch! Did you see the ghost sweatshirts?! I can’t wait until my new totes come in! Hope to see you soon! #booktruck #milspouse #smallbuisness by @thebackyardbookshelf

I am feeling very honored to be featured in @milsposocialco this quarter. When I first discovered this platform I was drawn to effortless way it helps military spouses connect and network on such a big scale. Since starting the book store I have really enjoyed meeting other business owners and figuring out how our businesses or networks can support one another. @pharmakonprime and @jlunt2 were some of the first to come out and sell their books with me- and I will forever be grateful for them putting up with my crazy. I have flat out failed in my attempts with some connections. It may sound cliche but I try to go forward and do better the next time… all while trying to bring something unique to the community. Please check out @milsposocialco if you get a chance! Thank you to everyone who has given us a chance or supported our store. 😊 by @thebackyardbookshelf

Happy banned books week to all who celebrate! This is easily one of our most popular shelves in the truck. Today I learned about picture books that make the banned books list. And did you know our own Sarah j Mass frequents the list?! Don’t forget to get your pre orders in for our release parties! by @thebackyardbookshelf

80+ PEOPLE. 🤯💜

When we dreamed up our first Manhattan Moms Storytime in the Park, we truly had no idea what to expect.

And then more than 80 of you showed up. 🥹

Kids spread out on blankets. Moms connected. Coffee was poured. Books were read. And our little corner of City Park was filled with families.

This absolutely would not have been possible without @thebackyardbookshelf saying hey let’s do this and then getting @bahlmco_coffee_bar to join us and then @fragrantblendscandlebar for jumping into this idea with us and helping make it happen.

We also loved having @deployedloveorg of Fort Riley (sorry won’t let me tag the local group!), @momsclubmhk and @k_andrist there to support our families and be part of the morning. 💜

But maybe our favorite part?

Since the event, 44 moms have already told us they want another one.

FORTY-FOUR. 😂

So… message received, Manhattan.

We’re doing it again. Soon but TBD! 🙌

We’re already starting to dream up what the next Manhattan Moms community event could look like, and after seeing so many of you come out for this one, we have a feeling this is only the beginning.

Thank you for showing up, bringing your kiddos and helping us build something really special right here in Manhattan. 💜

Now the only question is… what should we do next?! 👇👇

On Wednesdays, we wear pink and empower women of all ages! 💕

What a sweet morning at Storytime in the Park! Eighty people joined us, and I loved sharing free copies of “Becoming Confident” with little readers. The book is now available through The Backyard Bookshelf mobile bookstore, too! 📚🌳

As I signed books for little girls, I thought about the little girl I once was - looking to the women around her for the courage to chase her dreams. To me, serving as Miss Heart of Kansas Volunteer means showing up for moments like these: supporting women and helping children of every ability know they belong. There is room for all of us to shine. ✨

Thank you to Manhattan Moms, The Backyard Bookshelf, Bahlm Co Coffee Bar., and Fragrant Blends Candle Bar for bringing our community together!

Came back from my trip with enough new inventory to practically fill another trailer! 😱 This is the current situation in my house though lol. We are doing a deep clean and reset this weekend. I’ll post some more of our new inventory and if you want anything shoot me a message! Otherwise come see us @theplayplace.jc on Wednesday for storytime to get first dibs!
