Growing up, I didn't really like eating fish.. until I discovered Sutukil!

Sutukil is a popular dining style here in Cebu where a large fish is selected and cooked three ways:

SUgba - the belly is grilled
TUwa - the head is made into a clear salty soup
KILaw - the tail end is pickled and eaten raw, ceviche-style with vinegar and chilies.

It was funny to think of our three adventurers eating Filipino food, but when @thebarrierscroll and @artsumeshae asked me to join this collab, I knew I just had to.

New post! Do you recognize her?

This is the wonderful Oriole of @thebarrierscroll webtoon, named after the cute lil birb on her hand.

How lovely that my first commission came from my very own friend, J! Thanks so much, girl! I'm so glad you like her.

Ori is such a lovely main character to follow. Not only is she gorgeous in every panel and has magic flowy hair, she's also kind, soft-hearted, and a strong and powerful abjurer (magic user) who's still learning to control her powers. It's always so satisfying to see her grow and break through all the milestones in her journey.

I feel like lately when I see a powerful female lead in the media, they're always masculine in some way - brash, ungirly, not-like-other-girls (lmao). And honestly? To see a regular girly girl be a boss is so lovely and refreshing.

When deciding how to pose Ori, I thought at first a magic scene would be really cool. But after all my warmup sketches, the one that really stood out to me was this one. Just a soft, calm, peaceful girl, which is who she is, really, underneath all the action and glamour.

Thanks for letting me draw your girl, J! She's an absolute doll.
