So nice we went twice. Took my whole family to one of my kids' favorite #NYC #playground areas in the Financial District. My gripe with this time's visit is that the Statue of Liberty overlook is currently under construction. But don't worry. If you want a free view of Lady Liberty, the Staten Island Ferry Terminal is literally right there. See her from the right side of the ship when departing from #Manhattan and the left side when you return from Staten Island. #NewYork #familyfun

Our 6th graders were enthusiastic and engaged as they explored sustainability at the Battery Park Urban Farm this week! From planting pea shoots and tasting fresh fruits and herbs to exploring compost and observing worms and bugs, students eagerly participated in a variety of hands-on activities. Some even dared to try spilanthes, an herb that creates a tingling sensation in your mouth!

Started by students, the Urban Farm grows an impressive 3,500 pounds of vegetables each year to donate to community fridges. What a wonderful way to learn about sustainability and giving back to the community!

🍄 El pasado domingo 11 de octubre, nuestro director @juanitoferrer participó en el Festival Fungi de la New York Mycological Society @newyorkmyc, celebrado en Battery Park @thebatterynyc, Nueva York.

Una jornada para celebrar el Reino Fungi y encontrarnos con una comunidad increíble de artistas, micólogos, cultivadores y entusiastas de los hongos.

Entre nuestros favoritos: la escultura de @cosmic.worm, los perfumes de hongos de @phoenixbotanicals, los fascinantes mixomicetos de @elaniobro y los proyectos de @themushroomshopllc_ y @camsurbanfarms.

Y uno de los momentos más especiales: Child of Tree, de John Cage, interpretada por el percusionista Michael Jones, junto a lecturas simultáneas de Mureau (1970), también de Cage.

Did you know that protests saved the Battery from becoming a railroad depot in the late nineteenth century? We have working-class New Yorkers to thank for the survival of this beautiful park.

Today, @alexwcrowder will have the privilege of sharing the stage with @davidgeorgehaskell at @thebatterynyc Gardeners Luncheon, following David’s lecture on How Flowers Made Our World. It’s the start of our new partnership with The Battery, a park that has been a fort, an immigration station and a concert hall. Today it’s 25 waterfront acres of perennial gardens, woodland and an urban farm at the tip of Manhattan.

at yesterday's Fungus Fest 2026 in Battery Park NYC. Honored to meet an artist I've long admired - the venerable @ceciliavicuna - and attend her beautiful opening lecture on Indigenous myco-shaman Maria Sabina. The day closed with a fungal film program including experimental short works by @mycofilles @davidfenster @riittaikonen @kenbinsley @filmsbybeth @jessicareisch in the gorgeous new Wagner screening space.

Even in a rainstorm, New Yorkers show up and show out for fungi ⛈️

We presented at @newyorkmyc Fungus Fest this weekend, and followed it with a community science dig — and despite it pouring buckets, we were thrilled to have a group of people willing to get wet, muddy and dirty with us in the pursuit of expanding knowledge about fungal biodiversity in NYC.
