Over Farm Pick Your Own Pumpkin

It was raining upon arrival but then the sun came out and was absolutely lovely. Took our dog as well it was lovely. Really enjoyed a day out close to home, glorious weather, all things fall themed.

I got a pumpkin spice cookie it was yummy but extremely hard. My little one got the ghost cookie which she loved.

We then stopped at @thebbqso and had tater tots with bacon dust and an original burger which was delicious!!

Things to watch for:
Traffic horrendous not over farms fault we had to go up to Highnam and back round missed our time but they were understanding.
Pick your pumpkins park at the far end not the end by the shop/carvery.
Gift shop quite spendy.
Ferris wheel £5
Marshmallows from £1
Bathrooms are port a loos but were clean.

We bought pumpkins but pretty charged way more as there are areas you can test the size and qr codes. We thought ours would have been about 10-12 pounds came up to £21 which we were not happy with. It’s hard though as we want to support a local business.

Meat my new obsession📍@thebbqso

I recently joined a Facebook group called Coeliacs in Gloucester and it’s already been sooo useful for discovering places I never would have thought were safe for me to eat at in the area!

The BBQ Society has been popping up on my feed for ages, but I’d always assumed it wouldn’t be safe for little old me. But a few super helpful people in the group, including Ben, the owner, told me otherwise! Turns out they take coeliac safety and allergens VERY seriously, with strict procedures in place, and they even have gf buns available on request too 👏

So obviously it was a no brainer where we went for our weekend takeaway on Saturday. We settled on for the Meat Combo Meal to share, which comes with two smoked meats, two sides + a pickled salad. Our choices were👇

🐷 Pulled pork

🥩 Pork belly strips + hot honey sauce

🍟 Dragon salt fries which are Chinese salt + pepper inspired

🥣 Southern BBQ gravy (not gf but Paul wanted it)

We also added the pitmaster chilli and corn on the cob too (both gf)!

Everything was packed with flavour and the smoked meats were sooooo so good. It’s always a bit of a novelty finding somewhere that feels like a proper treat rather than having to settle for the one safe option on the menu. Their burgers are definitely next on my list! 👀

Big thanks to everyone for the recommendation, this is exactly why these little community groups can be so bloody useful!

We’re also so happy to welcome Stephanie Cole back this month, alongside a lovely mix of local makers and bakers.

This is the delighted face of someone who accepted his mother’s bribe to come to GGHQ this evening. I promised him a burger from @thebbqso downstairs in exchange for letting me sort out more of the glowy glass mountain 😅

He has declared it “the best burger he’s ever had”.

The atmosphere was amazing, the wine was flowing, and the live music from @tommyandthefuse Tommy Lewis was absolutely outstanding – entertaining, hilarious and the perfect soundtrack to a summer evening! 🎶👏

@thebbqso was incredible too… in fact, it got a 9/10 from my son, which is about as good a review as you can get! 🍔🔥

@vinotopiawine , it’s not about the big brands – it’s about supporting independent wine growers! Please keep an eye out for any future events 🥰
