My latest instrument as part of the @thebeatingbirch world is a model of a temple. It has 26 capacative touch sensors built into the design using a @spokeboard that turns it into a MIDI Controller. Touching parts of the model will play music.
.
I'll soon have some SPOKE boards to sell, so head to @spokeboard and follow/sign up to the newsletter to get updates.

I've been really getting into model making thanks to artists like @studsonstudio @billmakingstuff @dan_does_craft @miscast.co @blackmagiccraft_official etc. so thank you to them for the inspiration/making techniques.

What’s great for a snack and fits on your back?

I’ll be bringing this latest midi controller to our @hackoustic Presents night THIS SATURDAY at @iklectikartlab it is part of the @thebeatingbirch project that @cassettewitch and I are working on.

This instrument uses a @microbit_edu to sense positions and converts it to midi, sends it wirelessly via radio to a second microbit that then goes into a pure data patch I wrote. Instructions for that particular setup has been on my website for donkeys years.

Obsolete software meets state-of-the-art 16.4 Spatial Audio! ❤️‍🔥

This Saturday 17th June at @iklectikartlab, my media archeology project 𝙼𝙸𝚂𝚂𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 will fuse with @gadisassoon’s multi-instrumental, multi-disciplinary and multi-channel ambisonic experiments for the first time on stage for @hackoustic on the incredible @amoenus_london speaker system — thanks Tim and Tom for bringing us together!

Expect experiments in physical modelling, granular synthesis, electric violin, live sampling, MIDI sequencing, video projection and more. Cannot wait for the meeting of these esoteric soundworlds IRL like never before in one of London’s only venues working with 3D sound.

Some tickets still available, link above + below 🔗

New instrument for @thebeatingbirch in progress! An overly complex way to pluck a string. This will eventually be a combination of physical sounds and digital controls. With capacitive touch, midi control, robotics, mechanisms. Might even chuck in a mini theremin for fun.

Come check it out and play with it yourself at @hackoustic on the 17th!
