🔥🔥🔥What An Amazing Event 🔥🔥🔥
Slammaster of Volusia County @queenybihh created something groundbreaking & breathtaking. Taking Merd Slam to the next level, they originated the world's 1st Cosplay Poetry Slam. It did not disappoint. AT ALL!!! Within the microcosm of room 110. At the end of the longest hallway at the Con. The most random of individuals, in the variety of character cosplay. Stood still amidst the words of artists they never knew. Found new heroes drawn outside of the box. Found spoken word to be inked with the detail and delivery of their favorite anime. No subtitles needed. Poems dubbed in emotion are always understood. Whether it was a head to head round or scored. The winner was always the people in attendance. A crescendo of applause following each delivery found itself drowned out by the cries of a soul now seen within the lines and margins of a poet. Attendees found themselves in a temporal paradox. Everyone stating that it ended too soon, and how can we fast forward to next year so we can do this again. Parents introduced their children to Spoken Word and asked, "Where can they find more?" The Blunt Space made a space for people to be seen in their favorite fandom. Heard through their hearts. And be in costume while no longer masking...
Thank you to @kembe_scorpz and @rick__writes pf @expandingartstampa for coming out and blasting/blessing the stage. @shay.marchanay, who rode all the way from Duval, your pen-game is amazing. To @blacqwildflowr_ & @7uavesuavo, who shared final stage with me tonight and both tied for 1st place... Thank you for sharing your words and your artistry. For being amazing ambassadors to an artform often overlooked. For giving people what they needed, even when they didn't know, they needed it. Thank you for being you...🤷🏿‍♂️
This is #YourPoetryAmbassador and I speak it into being. This won't be the last. And @poetryiswmnf will be there to bring it to you

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Anniversary, America.

It feels fitting that today, three of my poems are entering the world.

I’m honored to be published by @thebluntspace in this issue of Defiance & Dialogue with:

• Delay. Deny. Dispose.
• OBBB
• POV: a White Nationalist Debating Students

These poems were born from anger, grief, and the belief that poetry should be brave enough to tell uncomfortable truths. They ask difficult questions about disability, healthcare, nationalism, and whose lives our country chooses to value.

I’m especially honored that “Delay. Deny. Dispose.” closes the issue.

Thank you to The Blunt Space for believing in these poems and to everyone who continues to read, share, and support my work. Every publication reminds me why I keep writing.

Someone spending time to sit with your art and try to understand is such an ideal scenario as a creative person. Appreciate the editors @queeny_bihh @brook_likeastream @black_beauty325

An elegant human based design seems so uncommon these days. Shout out to @wincreates for the design of the cover for this fourth issue.

In time for this troubled 250th July 4, three new pix in Defiance & Dialogue's just released 4th issue, We Da People. And what an amazing cover illustration!

Defiance & Dialogue is "a platform where underrepresented artists do not need to water down their culture to be accepted past the literary gatekeepers. A magazine where the truth is not hidden in cute messages and easy-to-swallow pills that stroke entitled egos. A movement that intertwines creative resistance with cultural vulnerability. Each issue explores an array of topics from social justice issues to creative liberty and expression through a curated collection of poetry, prose, visual art, photography, and more. We spotlight work that challenges the academic rigidness and, confronts systems of oppression, and invites authentic storytelling from marginalized and underrepresented voices."

Read the liberating prose, poems and delve into the art here: < https://www.theblunt.space/publications/defiance-dialogue-vol-1-issue4 >.

New Poetry! Here's footage of me performing my newest poem "American Grooming" which is a work in progress at the moment. I performed it this past week at the @nuyoricanpoetscafe weekly open mic. With the government trying to force Black and Latino people to fight their wars and the current political landscape I felt that this poem was timely and needed to be heard.

The People came out! A sold out show and a building packed to the gills. Even more wanted to get in after Wimauma to Ocala, Miami to Jacksonville, all of I-4, @voicesinpower_ brought them out. I saw ppl i knew from Tampa, but #YourPoetryAmbassador was the only one from the bay on this night. But I found friendly faces, inviting spirits, and a positive floridian comradierie woven together through poems that became stories of declaration... Stories of truth. Honest vulnerability and unyielding determination poured through speakers and settled in our hearts.
Follow them for additional upcoming events and if you were in the house, give us your take on the event and you favorite artists of the night...

Behold the second magazine I’m published in 🫨 Thank you so much to @thebluntspace for giving my poems a place to live ✨

You can read them here ➡️ tinyurl.com/4nrzprjk

These 3 poems are a bit older of mine, so it felt a little like opening and digging into an old wound editing and submitting these. However, it brings me great pride to see them make their way outside of my notebook and hopefully help at least one person feel less alone ❤️‍🩹

And of course, I want to thank my friends and family who consistently support me. You always encourage me to keep writing and hype me up more than I ever could 😂 I love you all so much.
